We stumbled on this restaurant one night looking for dinner, which was not far from our Hotel. It was a cold night (usual this time of year) and the place was about half full. Yep, let's give it a go ! The greeting by the waitress wasn't overly friendly, however, she warmed to us as the night progressed ! We... More

Indoor and outdoor seating with delicious food and a large selection of alcohol! The staff are quick and speak good english, this felt like an authentic Venetian restaurant. The price was reasonable for two adults and plenty of drink.

We stopped in on a cold evening and had a great first dinner. Because of the weather, tomato soup and our first pizza in Italy fit the bill. Great service and so very close by. We actually returned another night and had another pizza.

We sat here for dinner one night as it was close to our airbnb apartment. My friend and I both ordered pasta. I got the cheese gnocchi and it was delicious! I would go back again :)

The food was good, the place was nice. I was hungry and didn't want to go far off from where I am staying so I decided to go to this restaurant. Service was very good and the explained to me what was billed when the bill arrived. It was what my stomach wanted at that time.

We walked to the Venexiana from our hotel, did not have a warm friendly feel to the restaurant, staff not overly friendly, no free wine, ordered lasagna, arrived on plate with a sprinkle of herbs round the edge, could have been a M&M ready meal

This Hosteria was a gem that we stumbled on the last time we were in Venice. They have great fresh seafood dishes that are surprisingly delightful. My friends had octopus and tomato cream soup (not U.S. Cream), I had San Danelli ant pasta which was a delight, spaghetti vongole, and a grilled shrimp plate. All were excellent with a note... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
