25 Euro for a Parma ham starter. 6 slices of Parma ham from a packet and a bit of bread. Really! Avoid this place. It's a tourist trap. They lay on the charm to get you in, then ignore you. Terrible service with sky high prices.

We had the good fortune of eating here twice. The first time, we stumbled in off the street and were welcomed by the owner, a tall fellow with jet black hair and a broad smile. It was on the late side and he ushered us into the back room where we were seated and treated to a delicious dinner. Highlights... More

Friendly staff, delicious food, reasonably priced! A wonderful evening. I had the best gnocchi ever made with potatoes and calamari with shrimps and tomatoes sauce and San Pietro fish with artichokes, both delicious.

The food we had was OK but nothing beyond. We asked for the days special which was razor clams which we love but it was average. The same could be said for the entire meal. Nothing was bad and prices were fair for Venice but nothing went beyond what many places can do. There are a lot of better possibilities.

We ate here twice while in Venice and had wonderful meals each time. The seafood and pastas are great! Don't miss the desserts....they're delicious too. They are very friendly and welcoming and we would definitely recommend it!

We ate here 5 years ago and had a wonderful meal. it was great to return and see that the food is still fantastic. We enjoyed the seafood appetizer, the pasta with seafood and the one with lobster sauce and the mains of cuttlegish and soft shell crabs. Definitely worth a visit.

You may want to have your hotel make a reservation to be certain of getting in during the peak season, and if possible at their outside terrazza/garden. We sat inside because the outside (which is an enclosed terrace, not literally outside on the "streets") was fully booked, but we were glad to get a table as this restaurant came on... More

Venetian people like this place and sometimes even organize family events here. They are right, Bepi is far better than the standard tourist restaurants. If you like the daily market fish and vegetables, this is the right place where to come and you will not be disappointed. The fried moeche (soft crabs) were superb and so were the artichokes. We... The Trattoria da Bepi was very welcoming and the fish was delicious. We were with a large group and the service was great, despite the number of people. Our waiter was fun and gave great tips on what to order. Definitely worth another trip back to Italy to eat there again.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
