We came here based on all the recommendations in guidebooks and travel blogs and we were disappointed. We tried tiramisu and coffee which just tasted watery and grainy with no difference between the two flavours. I'm not sure what the rave reviews are about relative...More

I wanted one scoop of ice cream in a cup. I had to have two or have in a cones being gluten free this wasn't an option. I didn't get an ice cream. My partners chocolate chip wasn't great and definitely not worth the trip...More

A nice selection of Gelati, with no excess sugar. You can taste the milk inside the Gelato. The pear was great, and the ginger was excellent, with a bite to the taste.

I had several flavors of Gelato and tell you the truth I was expecting a more bold flavor. Maybe real Gelato in Italy is not as flavorful but I am happy that I tried some of the most authentic Italian Deserts. But i was happy...More

Sought this establishment on the recommendation of lonely planet, on one of their walking tours with my wife. We were after particular flavours and after exchanging pleasantries with the owner, we said that although everything looked very nice, they're not the flavours we're after. We...More

I saw this gelato bar on a to program about Venice - they said it was the oldest and best in the city. It was about a half an hour walk to find but so worth it when we got there - reasonably priced too....More

Had read very mixed reviews about this so we thought we would give it a try. Not hard to find because we used the trip advisor app and downloaded the Venice map, then used GPS on the phone to track it down offline. This rinses...More

After taking photos and then a great lunch at the Rialto area, we then started wandering back to our hotel in Dorsoduro, and as we passed this Gelateria we could not resist and ice cream, the taste was amazing.

Tried the ginger, peanut and sellery ice cream. It was awesome. Ice cream is made by the owner. Expect something different then the other shops. Ice is softer, and you should be open to experiment with the flavour. We also could use toilet nearby.

After all the hype and three friends telling me we 'just had to go there' the gelato was icy, grainy and virtually tasteless. All three of us had different flavours and had the same experience. Waste of time and money - check out one of...More

Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district)
when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring
cars and buses close to the center of Venice.
Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking
Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes
with energy from travelers and students. Historic
palaces and former industrial buildings house some
departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture

See Lonely Planet Venice and the Veneto 2012 p. 106? I took the address off the card Carlo the owner gave me a few hours ago, and noticed that it differed from the one in the LP guide. His gelato is outstanding, and I know gelato! We tried 12 flavors today, and the pistachio, celery, ginger, and lemon were to die for. He uses only fresh fruit for flavor, thus no coconut. Vanilla and chocolate were also superb. Three euros for three flavors in a small cup. Will return again tomorrow for more as it is our last chance. No seating so you eat it standing outside or sitting on a nearby doorstep. About four blocks from the train station...across the Grand Canal.
