Considering the prices in Venice this restaurant is cheap and has a good overall quality (from the whole menu dishes were from fair at worst and very good at best). Besides you'll get completely full!

We booked this restaurant early one morning, we wanted to book for the following evening but they said they were closed but they were open that night so we booked. We got there early but they could not find our booking, the lady who took the booking had put us down for another evening but they were able to seat... More

We were waiting for the train but had been recommended this place by our airbnb host as their favourite place to eat. It was packed full of locals and although they didn't speak much English they were very accommodating to us. The food was fantastic. We got the choice of a couple of different pastas as first course and then... More

I was in Venice four times in a twelve month period and on two of these occasions as I was travelling with adults I secured a night time booking here through hotel reception and had lovely meals as always. However the last two visits were with my young son aged fourteen. The night time meal is huge and includes wine... More

We booked a table (essential for this place) for Sunday lunch. They told us over the phone that there will only be a fixed fish menu available, and we gladly accepted the option. The restaurant is away enough to keep the crowds away and close enough to be easily reachable by foot from the tourist heavy part of Venice. We... More

Went to this little restaurant just after arriving in Venice. There was no menu, just the plate of the day, which was spagheti bolognese. Rustic environment and food, but tasty and serving good portions. Quality and price for the area is very good.

I suppose that all Venetians locals have a lunch there. The price is minimum but you get the excellent Italian traditional food. Delicious!

Even by Italian standards of offhandedness this place takes the prize. Arriving at 1.30 pm for lunch we we were told to stand outside for a table and were repeatedly assured and told it would be 5 minutes. The two waiters seated other guests who then had to wait 3o minutes for the paper place settings of previous diners to... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
