Bought a Pistachio Cake, it was delicious. However, the service was bad. The person did not speak English, was generally rude, and looked like he couldn't be bothered with giving us the cake we asked for. Also, very pricey.

Had seen the pistachio cake in the window upon arrival in Venice, and decided to try with a coffee the next morning. This cake is decadent - packed with pistachios it is very dense and sold by the Kg. Upon another visit we also tried the pistachio croissant and a twist with pistachios and almond paste - both very tasty.... More

Read about their Pistashio torta and being near our hotel decided to stop in for an late afternoon espresso and treat. I speak no Italian and the woman behind the counter spoke no English. She was quick to add up the first few items I requested and when we added another she was obviously frustrated. First time in 2 weeks... More

I was here a year ago and Pasticceria Pitteri was closed for renovation. I'm back in Venice now, and immediately stopped here on my first day. The remodeling is beautiful. I couldn't wait to get the pistacchio torta. This moist delightful treat is the best in all of Venice and likely in all of the world! I have only found... More

Amazing Amazing Amazing! We stumpled upon this place on our first morning in Venice looking for breakfast. Service is super Italian (which means it can feel quite rude and impersonal, if you're not used to it). Since we don't speak Italian we had to wait almost 5 minutes until someone finally took our order! That being said, the place is... More

It's so worth seeking out this pasticceria because the Pistachio Torte is beyond delicious. It is so rich and moist and full of marzipan flavours. We had walked past the tempting display several times, but somehow resisted, thinking it might be too dry. Fortunately we thought it was our duty to try it anyway, and it turned out to be... More

We grabbed some dessert here based on recommendations from trip advisor. We got the pistachio cake as well as lemon cake with a small cup of coffee. Both were very good! If you're around, it's definitely worth a visit.

I've been visiting Venice for 15 years and always stop by Pasticceria Pitteri for its pistacchio torta. I'm in Venice now and on my second day went to get my first of what I thought would be many pieces of this delicious delight. However, the place looks closed. There appears to be work going on inside. I'm devastated. Does anyone... More

Fell in love with their pistachio cake. Stumbled upon it while wandering through Venice on my birthday. Stepped in for a slice of cake and espresso -- based on the business and window displays this cake certainly looked like a local specialty. So, so delicious! Had to go back the next day to buy more for our road trip south... More

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
