Our experience started off great! We were seated promptly and our server, Tabitha, came by quickly to take our order. It was our first time at Trattoria as we are trying out new spots in Venice now that we travel through there frequently. After taking our drink and food order, we rarely saw Tabitha again. This is a snell place... More

Great pizza. Nice out of the way location but enough foot traffic to people watch. Our waiter was great and this was our first taste of the spritzer that is everywhere in Venice. I was not keen but he missus loved them. Great place to spend a few hours chilling

Both the food and the service was great. The staff made us feel so welcome. We love traveling in the off season, and this restaurant treated us like royalty.

We stumbled upon this non-touristy little square with this lovely trattoria. It's hard to find good food in Venice at a reasonable price. No, it's not the best food you'll ever eat, but that being said, this is definitely place I will return to, as I frequently am in Venice.

Very good food here and reasonably priced. We only found it on our second to last day and returned the next night. We would definitely recommend it.

We enjoyed several wonderful meals here - the service was great and fast, and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. We would definitely come back when in Venice again! Highly recommend, especially if you're looking for a quiet place away from the hoards of tourists :-)

We went there for dinner and for lunch on the next day! Venice is a very touristic place, so it is very difficult to find a good place to eat. They use less oil in their pasta sauce than other (often more expensive) place. Their pizzas are good also. The staff is nice! The place is a bit off the... More

We came to the place following the recommendations from Tripadvisor. We ate two course meals. Seafood pasta was great, spaghetti in ink was also good. Main courses on the otherhand were dull: a slab of neutral tasting grilled salmon for dame and a handful of fried, tasteless squid rings for me. I also got salad instead of grilled vegetables I... Decent prices for excellent dishes and drinks with incredible hospitality of the staff. We recommend to taste the fish dishes, typical venetian food. Grazie!!

This restaurant is fairly small and tucked away, but I'm so glad that we found it as it was the best meal I had in Venice (and one of the best ever!) The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, the staff very helpful and service speedy, although we never felt like we were being rushed. The food itself was delicious -... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
