We were there in the Venice's Carnival. The experience was fantastic. Luca and his wife are very kind and friendly. We were drinking something one night and the day after we were eating a delicious pasta Carbonara. Besides they invited us to several shots and some snacks. I am sure that if we come back to Venice, we will go... More

Tiny bar, and snack spot just off the main tourist path. Great attitude, tasty food and a pleasant spot to sit. Inexpensive stopover in this, the epicentre of crazy prices, it's a great lunch and beer option. Ask them to make you Alio Olio con Pepperoncino (not on the menu) for a delicious mouth buzz. A decided yes.

We had a late lunch here with my family yesterday. The pasta was fresh and tasty! We'll be definitely coming back. Prices are reasonable and service is great. Conveniently next door to it is a yummy gelato place which is perfect for dessert :)

After our hotel failed to cater for my son's allergies at breakfast, we stumbled upon this cafe. He was able to eat well, and so we were happy. The guy behind the counter was super friendly and very helpful. I would not hesitate to return the next time we are in Venice.

While looking for a place to have breakfast, we've been suggested by a local to go here. We had indeed a great Italian breakfast for the same price that you may well pay in any Italian bar - and way less than any similar bar in town. The guy was welcoming, and croissants great!

Stopped for an espresso and was about to compliment the staff on their choice of music when to my annoyance I was scolded for not having the exact amount in coins, and asked if I had only come in for change of a €20. Still gave them a thank you which wasn't even dignified with a response.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
