We stopped in here due to it being near our hotel. It was a nice Italian looking restaurant that had character but also was cool. We had a delicious pizza that was freshly made and fried calamari which was nice but needed a dip with it to save it from becoming a little samey. Reasonably priced and good service.

Good Italian food, bit an the expensive side, check the price of what you are ordering, but otherwise well cooked food with good friendly service.

Stopped here for lunch while touring Venice. I would say my friend and I were very impressed with the whole experience. The decor is really what caught our attention. We were greeted kindly and sat promptly. Asked if we would like any drinks to start. If you like wine, I highly recommend getting the house wine. We ordered the red... More

This restaurant, recommended by our hotel, did not disappoint. Tasty authentic dishes, friendly service. And the puddings! Try the panna cotta with fruit coulis, the tiramisu , or the crème brûlée

My mother and I visited this trattoria twice two nights running due to its proximity to our hotel. The second night they remembered us, were delighted we came back, and after dessert gave us a free fresh fruit platter. This was a lovely touch. We both got pasta each time and the portions were generous and tasty. I had tiramisu... More

From the outside it looks wonderful. What's the old saying " if it busy it must be good" how wrong we were. We entered and to be fair seated quickly and asked what drinks we wanted. Drinks came pronto with the menus and that's where it started going pear shaped. Wife ordered chicken breast venitian style and I ordered chefs... More

We stumbled on this restaurant and thought the decorations were loud. It had an ambiance and the staff were courteous and helpful. For a family of 2 kids and 2 adults, the meal came out to 70 euros for 2 bottles of flat water, fresh fried calamari, fresh salad with tuna and different vegetables, seafood spaghetti, spaghetti with homemade meatballs... The Trattoria looked inviting, staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was fine for the price. We enjoyed it overall.

We found this place as we were walking, looking for a dinner spot. After too many turns without good dinner spots, we happened across this one and decided to try it. Very "kitschy" inside: fake brick walls, fake grape lights hanging over each table (you can see these in the pictures posted by others) - but somehow it adds to... More

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
