Interesting to read other reviews. We travel to Venice each Sept and ALWAYS spend many evenings in the Bar Lonhgi and also at Club del Doge. It is without a doubt, one of the very best in Venice. Albeit, certainly not inexpensive and not for the t-shirt's inhabiting Venice. We have NEVER had a bad experience. We might suggest that... More

Had lunch on the deck on a beautiful, sunny December day. Was a bit worried without a reservation but after checking the very pleasant staff was quick to find a table for four. Was a bit confused when none of us were given a menu with any prices and wondered if it was a prix fixe or if you have... More

The Gritti is a beautiful historic hotel. The Longhi Bar is a perfect way to while away the afternoon with cocktails and admire the beautiful view. We had a fabulous time in there with impeccable service from the bar staff. Drinks are a little pricy but you expect that in such an upmarket venue.

I highly recommend grabbing lunch or a drink and enjoying the amazing view. The service is great and the outdoor terrace can't be beat!

Gorgeous smart bar right on the Grand Canal. Attentive service. Prices out of this world but 'you're paying for the experience' is what we told ourselves. The view is one in a million and feels pretty special. Definitely go for one and spoil yourself!

My fiancé and I went here for a drink one night to soak up some glamour and fancy cocktails before dinner. What we got was really mediocre drinks, potato chips, cashews, mushy olives, and a hefty bill. Yes the seating is on the water, but there are plenty of places to enjoy a water view in Venice (everywhere) that are... More

To stay here is sadly way out of my budget, but luckily it was 1 minute walk from my much cheaper hotel and there was no problem walking in and enjoying a drink on the beautiful terrace, people watching and enjoying one of the best views in the world . Enjoyed evening drinks while the Gondoliers drifted past, moonlight played... More

Wonderful spot for pre dinner drinks, gorgeous people watching, views of Canal, a bit of a problem with pigeons however, roosting landing above on patio/ but worth it. Went twice

Bar Longhi is inside the Gritti Palace hotel on the Grand Canal. It is open during the day for drinks and casual dining but we chose to visit in the evening. After a day’s sightseeing it was a perfect way to end an enjoyable day. The bar has an outside terrace where we had delicious cocktails (and complimentary nibbles) overlooking... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
