It is some years since I first started to come here for a Bellini and a toasted sandwich and it is a favourite 45 minutes every time I go to Venice (quite often over the last 55 years). Harry's Bar is not cheap and it can be guilty of two tier service - excellent for the regulars and people who... More

Heard this place was the place to go in Venice. I don't know why. All the staff where white blazers and are very good but other than that the place is nothing special. €20 for a tiny drink? The same drink they wouldn't serve us in our hotel bar because the peaches they are supposed to use were out of... More

I rated one cause it's not possible to give zero. What is this bar famous for? The unfriendly and rude staff?, the horribile drinks? Or the awful atmosphere? We walked in and bit dissapointed cause there was no customer we asked if they were open. Not even one smile to their first customer of the day. Around 7 staff members... More

This could be the first bad review I have ever wrote as I normally only give positive ones. This place however warrants this bad review because I don't want people to feel as taken advantage of as I did while on vacation. This place is insanely expensive for "meh" food, dated atmosphere, and ok service. I know this place has... More

Great place to have drinks. Sat and wondered if I was sitting in Hemingway's chair. Harry's Bar is a must stop in Venice. Enjoy the Bellini!

What can you say "it's Bellini Time" . Located on the Grand Canal and sure it's a tourist stop but it is one you have to make. Small limited seating very intimate and of course there are the Bellini's both regular and gin/vodka. I chose the gin version and it was great. For small bites you have ham/cheese or the... More

I have been to Venice 2 times and never made it to Harry's Bar. The room is small - décor is BLAH and they don't even have napkins with their name . The belini was excellent and cost over $20. The staff was friendly and we were not pressured to buy another drink It was pleasant as the patrons were... More

Once inside we were approached by a barman in ill fitting clothes. He pointed at two bar stalls - not beside each other - on the corner end of the bar where the door opened. Not a great start so we turned on our heels and left. This would have been our first drink here, quite prepared for the inflated... More

Well what do you expect when visiting an iconic bar. A Bellini or two and possibly more and possibly a good chat with the barmen. What a spledid oasis in Venice, only a weekend visit for us this time, but a must to frequent and we did. We had pre dinner drinks Friday and Saturday on our way to dinner... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
