... while roaming the back streets of Venice. Tasty and efficient, we enjoyed a late lunch of pasta and creamed cod. Waiter was quick to inform us there was "no pizza" when we arrived after 2pm, and only became apparent when checking out the place on here that he is likely used to tourists seeking him out for the pizza... Visited here on recommendation and it was a great dinner. This is a no frills local family trattoria. The staff were really welcoming and friendly. We had pizza and it was great. A laid back dinner for a good price and good atmosphere. There was a group of local kids eating there too and this was nice to see. Clearly... More

This is one of the very few genuine pizza restaurants in Venice, started 25 years ago by the parents of the guy that now runs it. Deserted, on a very foggy night in mid-February, 2017, he did not wanted it advertised. And why? Rowdy tourists have driven away the locals, along with second home owning aspirationals, which has distorted the... More

Found this restaurant based on Trip Advisor comments - glad we did. It's around a 20 min walk from St. Marks square but well worth it. Pizza was excellent (so good we went back a second night) and the drinks were well priced compared to a number of other outlets. €8 for a half litre of Prosecco and pizza varying... More

Since I discovered this pizzeria, I visit every time I'm in Venice. The pizzas is delicious, especially with the red beer. Will certainly return.

So on the Friday I went by on the recommendation of a friend who is a Venetian regarding the great pizza here. So along I trotted and he was absolutely correct, the pizza was amazing. So I booked a table for the next evening. The next evening o thought I would go Italian and eat as the Italian do. I... More

All the typical venetian dishes at a higher level of deliciousness, a pleasant atmosphere, nice patrons, a nice family, the mother/cook an english woman who, believe it or not, cooks the best sarde in saor or baccalà mantecato or bigoli in salsa or fried calamari or you-name-it I ever tasted in Venice (and I often come here). A great venue,... More

...we were so lucky. At first, we proposed merely a glass of Prosecco each. A bargain at €1.30 per glass. Soon the atmosphere led us to believe that lunch would be worthwhile. It was! Really nice, friendly proprietors are the hallmark of this family-run delight. Dad is front of house, Mum (Jacky) is the cook and their son very much... More

The food is good. with some very nice Venetian specialties. The prices are reasonable. The waiter was TERRIBLE: abrupt, impolite, and insulting. If you can stand being abused as part of the service, I would say go. If you think that service should be part of your meal experieince, stay away.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
