We stopped in this restaurant for a small bite and a glass of wine on the go. It was quite busy. The bites we had (mainly fishy) were excellent and the wine delicious. On the pricy side.

We really enjoyed our Christmas lunch at La Patatina. The atmosphere was really buzzy. The service was on the whole, friendly and efficient. We ate out a lot during our stay in Venice and tried to avoid obvious tourist restaurants, hoping to find decent quality food. The food at La Patatina was some of the best we ate in Venice and... Some of the staff were rude and unhelpful. The manager had a flippant attitude and made us feel unwelcome.

Myself and my family are visiting Venice for the first time and we was out for a walk by the main canal , just walking along looking for a nice local bar/restaurant to have a drink in , we found this place and thought "awww this looks lovely" , as we walked into the restaurant we asked if we could... I'm writing this in English, despite I'm Italian, cause I hate places like this sell avarage and overpriced food as typical Italian cusine. This is the greatest scam i've encountered during my stay in Venice. Menù is not dispayed outside, and the 'bacaro' written on the door suggests a total different kind of restaurant. Since the prices of dishes in... More

Bustling crazy busy place. Cute restaurant. Service is rushed bc they are so busy, but polite. They gave us prosecco while we waited. Food wasn't great even though it was filled with Italians. The seafood appetizer platter seemed popular so next time we would try that.

I came here with my wife on the first night of our stay in Venice after it was recommended by our hotel. We had the tuna carpaccio to start and then shared gnocchi with crab, and tagliatelle with scallops and pistachio pesto. The food was fantastic, especially the pasta and gnocchi - very simple food but it was perfectly cooked... More

Decided to try this place while visiting Venice. At arrival the waiter told us to wait five minutes for a table, it actually took more than 30min! The nice thing is that they offered some wine while waiting. After we sat down, we ordered the mix grilled fish platter which was half good half bad. Not very good though for... More

I really wanted to give this place a great rating. Before arriving we had seen the very polarised reviews, either "best meal in Venice" or "unfriendly simple cafe". We felt that maybe some customers had gone in with a more Anglo-saxon touristic attitude and not a true Italian spirit and hence had missed out on the typical warm Italian service.How... More

Enjoyed the local crab gnocchi here- homemade pasta that was delicious. Good stop for a casual lunch. All Italians in the place. Would come back again.

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
