Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This won’t be for everyone but we loved it. We sat down having been told it was fish night and immediately were hit with antipasti which was a meal in itself. Stewed octopus, marinated sea bass, cheesy baked mussels, bacalao and polenta. Then a seafood...lasagne. Then some friend calamari. Then a little mascarpone pudding with biscuits. We had better food on our trip but the boisterous no-nonsense, old fashioned Italianness was fun. Fizzy wine from the tap, grappa to finish. No booze charge. We just went with the flow.More

For 3 courses with wine @ 20 Euros this place can't be beaten! Great location and friendly service. Basic food but really tasty. Authentic working class Venice at its best.

My wife and I came here for dinner as American visitors to Venice as a recommendation from a BnB host, and so happy that we did. Four courses of food including endless house white wine, all for an affordable price. It was seafood night and...our starter included 6 plates of various seafoods. Seafood lasagna was amazing and memorable. Friendly service and uniquely has a new menu each day. Don’t miss this gem of a trattoria in the Cannaregio neighborhood!More

We absolutely loved this place. It would have been helpful to know up front what the experience would be so let me share. Once we were seated, our server explained that they have a set menu. They serve you what they serve you, there is...no menu to read and no decisions for you to make. Everything is seafood. Starters included sea bass, baby octopus. First course was a seafood lasagna, which sounds weird but was in fact delicious. Next course was fried seafood, calamari and other types of fish. Throughout the meal they replenish the table with their house white wine which is very good. Place is outside of the tourist bustle and was packed mostly with locals when we were there. Highly recommended for a different and delicious experience in Venice.More

This dinner was fantastic. One in our group said it may be the best seafood dinner he had ever had. It was a multi course set menu that included wine. Service was excellent. We sat outside right along the canal. The entire experience was wonderful....Reservations are a must!More

Excellent food at a great price and a mix of tourists and locals enjoying the fabulous food. It cost 30 euro for wine, water, pasta course, main course with vegetable, and an espresso.

Original authentic Italian food away from the tourist areas and at very affordable prices. But be ready to order without a menu card🙂

€40 whatever *they* choose to serve you. Fixed menu, no attempt at all to please the customer. Staff appallingly rude. Only positive is that the food is generally good quality, as is the wine. Bill at the end not itemized, just a total price. Worth...tolerating insufferable rudeness and arrogance of staff? Probably not.More

When we phoned to book (essential) we were forcibly warned that despite the name they did not serve fish ( on aTuesday) just meat. We got there on the dot of 1200 for lunch, and it was empty, but by 1205 it was full with...working men in high vis jackets. There was one table with a family of locals , and us as the only tourists. The atmosphere was cheerful and chaotic with orders being shouted to and fro. The menu for 20 euros was very simple, pasta with a choice of three sauces, and a main of chicken stew, tripe, or thin fried steak, all with one veg , peas on the day, and roast potatoes optional, incl bread and water or wine. By 1245 the working men had disappeared, and were replaced by what we took to be university students. My companion speaks reasonable Italian, and the staff went out of their way to try to be welcoming , but without the language a shy person might find the rush and the absence of printed menu a bit intimidating. For us it was an opportunity to relive our student trips to Venice more than 50 years ago, and the taste of the rough local wine brought back many happy memories.More

Every time we come to Venice, we always visit Trattoria da'a Marisa for lunch. We have been coming here for years. It is a small restaurant that fills up quickly, and they do have outside seating under a tent. Our advice is to arrive early...to guarantee a place at the table. Our servers, Alvise and Julia, were great. They may seem to rush you when you sit down, but once you have ordered you can stay as long as you want. They offer a price-fixed lunch each day for €18. You will be amazed at what you get. They offer a ¼ liter of water, ¼ liter of wine (red or white), bread, a choice of several pastas, a choice of meat or seafood secondi, choice of two vegetable sides, and a coffee. What a bargain! On this trip we enjoyed a ¼ liter each of white and red wine – 2 pasta Bolognese, sautéed boneless breast of chicken, a grilled pork chop with spinach/onions, peas and a stuffed tomato. All freshly prepared by Anna and her kitchen staff and all delicious. To finish, we each had a coffee. What can we say, this restaurant serves up consistently good food?More

Don't go here if you want a tourist menu in English - here you will get whatever is on the (unwritten) menu for the day. There is choice, but the waiter will simply ask you which prima patti you want - 'pomodoro, ragu o carbonara'....Then very quickly they bring your big plateful. Finish it, and they ask you what you want for the secondi patti with a small choice - beef steak, chicken or pork escalopes for example. This comes with a plate of vegetables. The lunch deal includes a bottle of water, a quarter litre of wine each, bread and coffee. it is generous, excellent food and excellent value. Book by arriving early, write your name on the sheet of paper outside, go for a walk and come back at your chosen time. Eat outside with the tourists, or better, eat inside at the cramped tables with the locals.More

Loved almost everything about this local trattoria except the service, which is almost hilariously brusque and rude. Yes, it’s a relatively small staff serving a huge number of customers, mostly local, and working very hard in doing so, but one can say the same for...another local favorite, Ristorante Casa Bonita di Giovanni Vaccari just over the bridge on the same canal, and they managed to seat and serve us with swift efficiency and courtesy. And yes, the food at Casa Bonita is a little more expensive, but also better.More

We had been to this small restaurant on the edge of a canal a few years ago and loved it. This time, however, it was a huge disappointment. On arrival we were told , very rudely, that our online reservation (shown on my phone) did...not produce a booking as they never looked at them! “We are Old School” he said! But they did offer us a tiny table on the very edge of the canal. As we had travelled by vaparetto for nearly a hour we decided to stay - big mistake. The young , scruffy waiter was insolent from the start. When no wine glasses appeared with the wine (no choice, just white or red dumped on the table), We took 2 glasses from the adjacent ( too close for Covid regulations) table, whereupon the waiter noticed and chastised us loudly, saying there was now no room for the plates of food! I felt like suggesting the table could be bigger! The anti pasti dishes were thrown on the table with no explanation of what they were. We knew there wouldn’t be a menu and that this must be “fish day” (alternating with “meat day”) but this was not mentioned. Then came further courses which were, admittedly, delicious. The service, however, continued to be terrible - rude and unfriendly. The waiter seemed much more interested in a table of local girls than us ( and other poor tourists). We chatted with a very nice German couple on the next table so our evening was not completely ruined. We were supposed to be going back later in the week but today I received an email saying my reservation has been cancelled!! And they said they didn’t do online booking!! Extraordinary! We will never go back or recommend this dreadful restaurant again.More

Do yourself a favour. Go here!! Hugely generous servings, authentic family cooking - this is a gastronomical jewel of Venice! Reading some reviews perhaps some people just don’t ‘get’ Della Marisa... you get what you’re given - that’s what it’s about! Either selections of delicious...Venetian meat or Venetian fish dishes depending on the day... and dish after dish after delicious dish appears at your table! Fantastically fresh, home cooked - deep from the heart of a family who’ve been offering up these 5 course meals for very grateful locals and bemused / puzzled tourists for years. Wine is part of the deal (red or white!) and a table by the canal makes this a most memorable dining experience! You won’t eat for days after! Love this place 💙😊More

We went to Dalla Marisa for lunch on a very busy Saturday. There was no menu. We noticed that everyone seemed to be getting a bowl of pasta with red sauce. It took a while, but eventually we were offered meat or fish sauce with...our pasta. Our pasta came quickly and was filling, though not very good. We also noticed that the locals seemed to know to order other things like vegetables or an entree. We didn’t know and were full. So, we paid for the pasta and left. Since the food was filling, we got what we paid for. Hence, two stars. However, there was no charm to the experience. Maybe it was too busy. Or maybe it was assumed we were just tourists, but we have spent many months in Venice. If you want to be served a nice leisurely meal with delicious food and to feel that someone cares, there are many other places in Venice which offer this.More
