We were attracted to the restaurant by the courtyard full of happy people. We were told it was a private party and so couldn't sit outside and got ushered into the restaurant. We should have left but had a tired and hungry 6 year old with us. €122 later two of us had had a pasta dish and a half... More

Me and my friends were walking around Veince past the alleyways and away from marks square to look for something more authentic and we can across colombos. To keep it short. Service was average. Food was overpriced and wasn't that nice at all. I'd get better at home. My friend who is vegetarian wasn't helped even though he asked about... More

Rare for me to say this, but I suggest you stay away from this restaurant which is very overpriced and the food is poor regardless of the price - walk a short distance and eat in one of the smaller, friendly restaurants where quality and price are in line.

We were disappointed not by the quality of the food which was fine but a t bone steak for two people was €55 per person and yes it was nice but €110 for one course was outrageous. We didn't bother with any wine as €35 for one of the cheapest bottles seemed over the top could explain why we saw... More

After working in the marine industry for over 30 years and visiting different countries and different restaurants on a daily basis I've found the worst performance of service ever experienced. In fact I thought it was perhaps a joke and that it was a slant to make the place stand out from the competition. How wrong I was !! The... More

The location is rather great of course, right in the center of Venice, although there is better location in this city. The staff is rather pleasant, but seem more philippinian / asian than italian. The restaurant is supposed to exist since 17something... (Year 1736 I think, not sure). So we should expect an exceptionnal 'savoir-faire' ... unfortunately there is no... More

Very nice restaurant close to Rialto Bridge in a nice venetian courtyard. Good fish! very good granseola and seabass in salt crust. Nice atmosphere; at the same time it is elegant and familiar. Friendly and smiling staff.

Looked like a very nice restaurant, so decided to give it a try. The wine, which was suggested by our waiter because none of my selections were in stock, was very good. Wife just ordered onion soup...don't know what it was, but not anything like we expected...yucky stuff...and for 16 euro...ouch. I had spaghetti with blue shell crab...not bad, though... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
