Ask for Renato and ask him to cook you the pasta with peas at the table. It is the finest dish i have ever tasted. The rest of the menu is sublime and the service is incredible. I went there every night on my recent trip and almost extended to get lunch on the way back but couldn't book a... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel in Venice. We asked for a local restaurant, which was quiet and wouldn't have too many people. The restaurant's location was nice and tucked away. When first walking into the restaurant, the atmosphere provided a discomforting feeling which continued throughout the meal. Our food was decent but not as spectacular as... More

The food here is terrible. We were here with 6 other people and most of the dishes were inedible. My daughters pasta was cold and the scampi were not fresh. The wine list is ridiculous and does not match the caliber of this restaurant . The maitre d was rude and not appreciative. Do not waste your money at this... More

My partner bought a Romantic trip to Venice in an Expensive Charity Auction which included a Romantic dinner for two at the Restaurant Do Forni! Upon arrival we were seated and given a Peach Bellini as an aperitif! The restaurant had good reviews and looked interesting with great fish displayed but what we didn't realise was that we were on... More

We visited this restaurant once and I still cant forget how delicious it was. We ordered Squid Ink Spagetti, Dori Fish and Spider crab, it was sensational. Couldn't get the same taste and flavour anywhere else in Venice.

I had been recommended this restaurant, which is very near St Marco. It has a park that replicates a carriage on The Orient Express, such an amazing look and feel to it. i ate in the main part of the restaurant and the food was really good. The prices, for Venice were very good too. All in all, it is... More

This restaurant was mentioned in a list by the Martin Randall tour company as being known as the place to eat in Venice. I agree. Everything was done well, from the caprese starter with luscious tomatoes paired with excellent mozzarella sprinkled with a few olives and capers, to the tagliatelle pasta with shrimp and asparagus and the dory fish filet... The restaurant " Do Forni " was founded in 1973 and is managing with passion by Mr.Eligio Paties.

" Do Forni " is distributed in two adjacent rooms: a rustic elegant room setting with the imagery of the ancient Venetian restaurant and the other one called Orient Express, whose luxurious furnishings reproduce accurately the setting and the soul of the famous wagon train that connects Venice to Istanbul and Paris.

The restaurant features traditional Venetian cuisine, mainly seafood, which offers fish and shellfish of the Adriatic according to recipes handed down by the Venice of the past centuries and embellished with seasonal vegetables and delicate sauces; but also the restaurant is known for a refined interpretation of the Venetian and Italian cooking that mixes the use of meats and local vegetables with the influence of international gastronomy.

Very large and qualified is also the restaurant's wine cellar, that offers the best labels from all the Italian regions, the most prestigious French wines and champagnes as well as a wide selection of international products.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
