Found this hidden Venitian restaurant in one of the backstreets in San Marco. We had the scallops as appetizer, as suggested by our waiter and it was delicious. Afterwards we had the Spigola (seabass) in salt, it was not on the menu but if you ask for it they'll make it for you. It was fall of the bone moist... More

Very friendly and in San Marco. Fresh ingredients with excellent seafood dishes. Full of locals (good sign). Calamari was excellent.

We were shopping nearby and asked the proprietor of a shop if there was somewhere nearby that had good cichetti. He recommended "Fiore" enthusiastically, so, we stopped by and were pleased with the wide selection available. It's a tight squeeze and was crowded with locals. That's always a good sign to me. We try to stay away from the touristic... More

Food sounded nice but didn't quite deliver. I had the typical black ink cuttlefish and it was... well a bit too much of everything (ink, salt). Atmosphere was a bit flat in the restaurant, but seem better in the bar...

The Trattoria is classified as being between the upscale restauranti and the low-end bar. But this is a good place to eat for lunch or dinner.

The food was well and carefully prepared. Massimo, our waiter, was also very special and explained us the menu. The restaurant is also great for aperitivo. We took our friends there, for a 2nd visit. The fried calamaris are excellent. Watch out for the spicy cheese croquete. Tried my first Spritz.

My husband and I have just returned from our yearly sojorn to Venice. Our Hotel is very close to the Trattoria Da Fiore and every evening we look forward to feasting there. We always book ahead of our visit since it is very popular with Italians who come from all over the region to dine here. Every meal was a... More

Terrible service, lousy food. When we asked for desert the girl said: I am your menu! What is this? We have to choose without knowing prices. Very expensive.

We liked this restaurant so much we went there for dinner both nights we were in Venice. We ordered the Steak, Lasagna, and Spaghetti one night and the Steak, Spaghetti and Soup the second. We ordered the chocolate cake and tiramisu both nights. It was just a wonderful evening both nights.

You may fall upon Trattoria Da Fiore restaurant in Venice with cries of delight not only is it a charming, laid-back trattoria run by a native Venetian family, it is also incredibly affordable for this high-ticket city. Near Piazza San Marco, too, so its perfect for every kind of tourist or business noshing. A small, historic, charming spot with a separate space for those who wish to just nibble cichetti and drink a glass of wine, Trattoria Da Fiore has the beamed ceilings, warm plastered walls and dark wood seating and white table linens all typical of Venetian eateries. The menu is Italian and Sergio and his two children pay particular attention to the choice of wines. The house specialty is pennette da Fiore for two with olive oil, garlic and seven seasonal vegetables, though some swear by the zuppa di pesce alla chef brimming with just about everything that swims, perhaps followed by sgroppino al limone to finish. Youll find Trattoria Da Fiore full of both tourists and locals, and something of a triumph.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
