Been there now for the second time this year and chose this location with my wife for her special day - and were again mesmerised! Perfect service, relaxed atmosphere, delightful local food with a twist, good unpretentious presentation and a small, but excellent selection of local wines! We will be back....

Came across this restaurant while roaming around our last night in Venice. The food was good, the atmosphere nice but the staff completely missed the mark on service. Our courses were paced incorrectly- all the courses in no particular order. We ended up sending back at least one dish as we'd moved on to our main course. We we going... More

This restaurant is hidden in Cannaregio down a side street. It's easy to find with a map and definitely worth the effort. Service was very friendly and helpful. Our meals were very good, and we will definitely go back . We shared a starter of sautéed scallops with lightly sautéed fennel and raspberries. Who knew lightly cooked raspberries could make... This was a super restaurant on a quiet back street in Venice, away from the hustle and bustle. It was a really delightful dining experience for our family of four. We were the only English speakers in the restaurant, leading to this restaurant's authenticity. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic. The food was lovingly prepared and was... More

Grilled fish and vegetables presented in a very artistic way and the modt important: delicious! It is located in Cannaregio district, between the Ghetto (Guglie) and San Marcuola / Casinò. The chef, Domenico, has worked around the world, is a very curious guy, experiments new dishes without fear and always gets delicious mixtures! An Italian flavour to international mind. I... More

We had a delicious meal here in September 2016. The food was fresh and delicious. We need gluten free food as my husband is Celiac and we had safe and wonderful food prepared for us. Good service and a great value for the quality and imagination of the food. We hope to return. Make the effort to find this restaurant... More

We dine here every time we visit Venice. Romantic, out of the way in a hidden alley, 'old Europe'. However, we love every dish that the chef has prepared for us. Tonight we just had a simple pasta bolognese and spicy ravioli. Excellent!

There are lots of good to bad restaurants on the island. But there are only 2 outstanding restaurants that have eaten at during out 4 trips to Venice. Bentigodi is one of those restaurants where the chef and staff really care about what they make and how you enjoy it. Strongly recommend making reservations before going. You will not be... More

Some of the best restaurants are not in the busiest locations. This restaurant tucked back in an alley is one of them. Great menu, terrific food, attentive service and affordable.

Our family stopped in Venice for a couple of nights (see review for Eurostar Canareggio Residenza) and asked the front desk staff for a recommendation for dinner....non tourist-y and close. We went two times.... Once to try it out and the next night to celebrate our daughters birthday. Everything was wonderful... From the bruschetta to the pear and Gorgonzola gnocchi... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
