Often, when you have your Gordon Ramsey Kitchen Nightmare type shows, a failure of small family-run restaurants is to try to appeal to too-wide an audience, with huge menus that they can't deliver. Not in the case of Michele & Jolanda - there are 3/4 antipasti, 4/5 mains and excellent canelloni to finish. However, they have crafted these perfectly. In... More

Wonderful reception from Micheal and Jolanda. If you want authentic Sicily don't go any where else. Food home made by Jolanda, rustic and unpretentious.

After visiting the palace we used Trip Advisor for a local restaurant and found this small trattoria. The fixed price menu was simple good home cooked food. The restaurant filled up with locals who had clearly eaten there before - a good sign. The owners are really jolly and welcoming.

Michale is very capable and communicative and benefits of those skills very well ;).. you have to see it but not sure that you will like it but you can play along.. ;). Regarding food, enough to say that this is the only place that serves machiato with cold milk from fridge and that you need to walk through kitchen... More

We found the Trattoria Familiare da Michele & Jolanda after we finished touring the Cappella Palatina. We stopped in just for cannolis and we were pleasantly surprised. Michele took great care in preparing our three cannolis and they were delicious. Michele's service was impeccable and his dedication to making his customers happy shows. We didn't order anything from his normal... More

We are a family of 5 exploring Sicily for one week. While we were walking around Palermo in route to the Catacombs, we happened upon this delightful restaurant! We were greeted warmly by a husband and wife who owned the restaurant. They sat us at a table and very enthusiastically explained to us in broken English their delightful menu. They... More

Michele & Jolanda are amazing chefs and great hosts. The simple menu has pictures for non-Italian speakers and all the food is good. A must try to experience Italian family style meals while in Palermo.

Our family of four needed somewhere quick/simple to eat near catacombs and Palace. This place was perfect-we only had drinks and a plate of pasta. The pasta was very good-we cleaned plates. The owner is a character but was very nice to us.

I'm not much of a foodie so, for me, a meal is more about the experience than the chemical interaction of a bunch of exotic ingredients. Michele and his wife Jolanda are most of the fun here, having created a jolly atmosphere based on a simple fixed menu with three appetizer and three types of pasta to choose from and... More
