Our tour guide recommended this place for a light lunch. This is not a place that the tourists go. So, the food is true authentic florentine cuisine. We tried the focaccias and they were amazing. Nothing like the ones you buy in the United States. Flavorful, but at the same time they are very light. The cantinetta also has a... More

Do not miss this traditional Forno and try the foccacia degustation plate. The foccacia are cooked on site in the traditional wood oven. The decoration is simple but elegant (dark wood). The home wine from Verrazzano estate is lovely.

We stayed at the Stanze del David Hotel, which is right across the street from Cantinetta dei Verrazzano, so we had breakfast here several mornings. The options available were enormous and the bakery items were delicious. The coffee and tea also were excellent, and the staff was friendly and efficient in bringing us our order. The seating was comfortable and... More

We stopped here for a light lunch - not sure if we aren't ordering correctly but why do Italians serve dry hard bread with no oil or butter?! Other than that, the wine is of a good standard and the meat cheese desserts etc are run-of-the-mill. Not over-priced for the area, but not stand-out either. Our waitress was very kind... More

The coffee, pastries and cakes are delicious. What makes this place so special though is the beautiful decor and attention to detail: the marble-top tables, display cabinets and dark wood panelling. Good service, great food, lovely atmosphere.

This is a nice little deli cum restaurant serving a variety of salads, sandwiches, pizzas and bruschetta . Serve good vegetarian options. Warm friendly service and some great house wine from their own vineyard. It was well worth 10 mins wait. Was a memorable meal.

This was recommended a small family run cafe, and I had not expected to get in at lunch time but only had 5 min wait. This not a fast food cafe and the visitor should be prepared to move at a leisurely pace. My wife and I settled for the house cheese and meat selection and we were not disappointed.... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
