You can't miss All' Antico Vinaio because as you exit the Uffizi Gallery you can't miss the long lines of people waiting for these affordable, huge, delicious sandwiches. They have three porticos across the street so get in the shortest line...the food is the same at all three locations. We thought our party of four would split up - two waiting in line at the Duomo and two waiting at All' Antico to try and eat while we were waiting to see the Duomo. By the time we returned with 4 sandwiches, the Duomo team had already been through the church and the sandwich team was left outside with food. These sandwiches are not for vegetarians as I didn't see one all vegetable option....choose your meat, and sauce and the bread soaks up the truffle cream ladled on every sandwich. They are huge and we couldn't even eat dinner after having this sandwich at 2:00pm but for only 5 Euros, the price can't be beat. This is a must have during your time in Florence.

I am Italian, well travelled and totally trustworthy. Well, I am a resident in Florence, and I know about this kind of food. The schiacciata (a kind of bread) with affettati (cold cuts, usually from pork like prosciutto crudo) is pretty common all Tuscany (Italy) long. This one is a good one, but you can easily find better or equal. They sell their panino at 5 euros (3,5 for half panino), that is totally cheap compared to the huge quantity they give (a bit suspicious about quality, since affettati and cheese that garnish, are expensive). The bread is nor warmed uo, as you can find somewhere else ('ino just to mention a place pretty close). Si, 3 is the right vote. But. Going there and touching with hands how the web through social media works, well that is a 5 star experience! Hundreds of people during the main lunch hours forming a superlong line that makes superdifficult even for people to walk through (not to mention cars that need minutes to pass by)...well it is an experience to do once in your lifetime! The venue itself is not that nice, just a few seats inside: but Arno river a few hundreds meter away, with ponte vecchio just in front of you, inviites you to jump on the parapet taking a seat in a sunny Tuscan day!

If you arrive in Florence by train, this famous sandwich shop is around a 20-minute walk from the station, but if you're already wandering the city centre, it's only 10 minutes from Piazza del Duomo. You'll know when you're almost there by the queue of people waiting down the street, however, the wait is absolutely worth it!! The sandwiches themselves are large, made freshly in front of you with hand-cut deli meats and local ingredients stuffed into a toasted focaccia, and they only cost around €5 each (from memory). La Boss sandwich and La Summer sandwich were both incredible!! We can’t wait to return on our next trip!

My GF made me queued up 20min at 4pm with all other tourists to taste this famous sandwich. Service is okay, just hits the average. They even have a "security/customer flow" guy outside to manage the queues. It's good but way overrated and really not worth queueing up unless you're that kind of person who wants to check the Instagram box to say "I saw this on some stories so I was there too, I'm so cool". I had an Inferno and it was a real mess to eat - so oily that it leaked approx. half a glass of oil everywhere while I was trying to eat it. Not cool and I personally don't like when a dish can not be eaten properly. Again, food is good, price is correct but at the end of the day it's just a warm sandwich.

We visited Florence's most famous Focaccia place since it had been recommended by friends, and it did not disappoint. The shop is very very small, with little space to manoeuvre and you will almost definitely have to que for a while but trust me, it's well worth the wait. We visited on a Wednesday at lunchtime and were queuing outside for about 15 minutes. There are a range of 'pre-set' focaccia options to choose from or you can have one custom made. I chose to do the latter since I'm vegetarian. The staff were happy to accommodate my requirements. I leftthem to choose the fillings for my foccacia, trusting they would create something delicious, and I wasn't disappointed. No seating, no frills, just a brilliant focaccia which will fill you up for only 5 euros. A must do for Florence.

A friend of mine invited me to this restaurant, touted the best in Florence with the best sandwiches. We lined up in a long line for over 40 minutes. I was really excited as it seemed very popular. Lines on both sides of the street ..no seating available, everyone sit at the side of the road and eat their sandwich. There is a menu outside the so you can choose your meat fillings before getting to the door to order , get your sandwich, pay and leave. I will be very honest about this sandwich. The filling is very tasty, but omg the bread, being a flat bread was sharp as a knife, and the longer you struggled to eat it the tougher it became. I struggled to eat half this sandwich for 30 minutes, not because it was too big but too tough to eat and chew without choking. My gums were in pain after. If this bread was a bit softer, then wow this would have been an excellent sandwich. But but not with that bread. Would I partake in the future? If the bread is the same no. If its changed yes..

We queued a long time for a sandwich here given the reviews on trip advisor and were very unwhelmed. The sandwich was nice enough, bread a bit crunchy and hard but the ingredients nice, but absolutely nothing special. We have been to other local sandwich shops in Florence which were much nicer. The customer service was also not good, probably as the queues are so long and know they’ll get the custom regardless, but it was quite hostile and impersonal.

the Schiacciata is a typical kind of sandwich and in this place you can taste it filled it with the most authentic types of cheese and salami of the region. They always combine those ingredients with fresh vegetables or mushrooms, grilled or in creams... simply delicious! I went to take away and the staff was extremely kind with me, explaining me the ingredients and even customizing it to come towards my own taste. I recommended it strongly!! ¡

They say that if you visit Florence and you don't try ones of their "paninis" you haven't visit Florence at all. Humungous lines every single day, most of the time is at least 30 to 45 minutes wait... if lucky! So we went before opening and we were the second in line. For us doing the line is not worth it, don't get me wrong for the price of 5 € is great... but honestly you get great food all around Florence without the wait.

We were learned about this place from our tour guide when we did a free walking tour at the city. We were intrigued as there were long queues at all 4 outlets on the same street. We thought it would be something special, so we joined in the queue. After 30min we reached the head of the queue. It was very busy but service was quick, and we ended up with 2 different types of paninis. We liked neither of them. The bread was hard, the meat was tough and way too salty and everything was cold. We ate half and threw the rest away. Perhaps we couldn't appreciate it the way the other could. Sorry, just not to our taste.

So not worth the line and hype! We waited for an hour in line for a sandwich that was not fresh at all. The bread was hard as rock and way too much so you barely tasted properly the content of the sandwich between all the taste of bread. We got one with truffles and a 9€ one that I saw a picture on the internet with - the sandwich i got did not resemble the picture at all. Also, the staff is very very rude - yelling at customers, hurrying everyone - i get that they are very busy but most of the people are tourists and you can’t yell at them in italian expecting them to understand what you are saying. Do not buy! Not worth the time and money.

Covid has eliminated the restaurants (apparently 3 spots on either side of the street)indoor dining experience so we waited about 20 minutes in line our first day for a sandwich. The sandwiches are huge - easily shareable - and full of tasty meats, veggies & sauces. There's a choice for every taste palatte. I tried the "Inferno" which had thin sliced porchetta, sauteed eggplant chunks (a little messy when walking) arugula and a very spicy sauce. It was delicious but I couldn't finish. My husband and I went the next day at 10:30 and shared a "summer" which included yummy fresh tomates, basil & mozzerella. The bread is thick and a little crunchy. Recommendations: go as close to 10am as possible to avoid long lines and share!

Totally worth it. We went during the pandemic and it was not that many people waiting to eat it. There are three different restaurants that provide this type of sandwich (same name) and there is at least two people from the staff queueing people on the right direction. The sandwich is DELICIOUS, (we went there twice and order 4 different kinds (2 each)) and they have at least 10 different kinds to try. The products are very fresh, including the bread, and very typical from Tuscany region. Strongly recommend

Okay, but not special. This is a mid-rate sandwich shop (at a good price) that caught on fire from a few celeb and food network videos that lead to Instagram fame. Nothing wrong with the place. We stayed around the corner so we had the luxury of trying it when there was nearly no line (which almost never happens). The ingredients are good quality and the price is good for the portion size, but that's not special in Florence. The shame is waiting in the insane lines that amass most of the day...what a waste of a great city. Go early or late or somewhere else, because the hype is just that if you choose to burn an hour or two waiting for a snadwich.

You will know when you arrive that you’re in the right place. Pretty much any time, there will be a queue. Obviously avoid peak lunchtime. Great sandwiches so order anything off their list and you’ll be sure to enjoy it. Been here many times and I typically go for the Favolosa and Inferno... which are both amazing. Both are strangely a little spicy, but with different types of meat. The bread is what makes it special, like a focaccia but more chewy and crisp. There are also a myriad of other sandwich options so feel free to ask if none of their six recommended options take your fancy. Queues do move quickly, but typically still 20-30 minutes... but worth the wait though, and a must try if you are new to Firenze.
