I would advice people to stay clear of this place. Went there for a drink with the kids. Didn't get the waiters attention at all, so we found it hard to 1. get a menu 2. order 3. receive our order 4. get the bill and pay. When the waiter saw me waving at him, he almost looked surprised over... More

Although the deal is brushetta, Lasagna and salad For €11 none of us expected it to all arrive on one plate. Drinks were overpriced and service charge was compulsory (1st restaurant in Italy we have experienced like this). Wouldn't go back to this restaurant if someone paid for me.

I stopped there after visiting the famous cathedral located just opposite. As I was exhausted I sat at the terrace and ordered an orange juice. A fatal mistake. I was served a small glass not even half-filled with carelessly pressed orange juice, full of pips and solid bits. Yet the worst part was when the bill came- a staggering 7... More

I'm somewhat surprised by the previous comments/reviews for this place.. We went there for breakfast this morning and it wasn't a very pleasant experience at all. Over priced food and coffee, eggs raw, when i say raw I don't mean runny, the white was still clear, uncooked..My wife's eggs were perfect and she proceeded to start eating. I sent them... More

Let me first say I didn't order any food at L'Opera. My wife and I just finished a tour of the Duomo including walking the steps to the top of the cathedral. When we were done I was very thirsty and my wife needed a bathroom. L'Opera was the closest open cafe, so we went in skeptical that she would... More

Due to its convenient location, and the fact that we did not want to go in search of a place to eat. L'opera seemed like a apt option. The food was nothing out of the ordinary and to be entirely honest you could have the same quality meal anywhere else outside of Italy. Felt like a bit of a tourist... More

How can you beat lunch in Italy? We stopped to read the menu when we were walking around the Duomo. Both pizzas were very good. The service was appropriate, not too fast not too slow. The outdoor seating was comfortable and actually not too crowded. The only negative was I didn't get the Chianti I ordered. But what they brought... More

We were enticed in to the cafe by the €10.50 menu for 1 main course. We had seen the menu at lunch time after already eating, we were told that before 19.00 this price included a glass of wine so we returned for our evening meal before 19.00 to take up what we thought was a good offer. My friend... More

Considering it is next to the Duomo the price and quality of food and drink is good and fair. Good service.

Went there after going like 500 steps and then finally down to earth, it was do hot and we were do tired, then found L'opera located steps from the exit. I, then got the idea behind these 4 ambulances parking behind the duomo :) Ordered 4 drinks, Cold coffee was great, 8 different flavored coffee, thanks L'opera you ate a... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
