My wife and I visited here on our first evening to Florence. It was a Sunday and not a huge amount was open so we booked this restaurant. It wasn’t hugely busy but the staff were very friendly and the food we had was of...good quality. The wine by the glass was nicer than the half bottles, and cheaper in price too. If visiting then the salmon pasta is a must. Due to the time we came, we had 30% taken off our food bill too which made it incredibly good value for money and we would definitely visit again.More
We had the Florentine steak, a variety of pastas, dessert, and wine. The service was super. Our waiter provided excellent recommendations. It was by far our favorite meal in Florence.
What can I say, we have visited Florence 3 times over the last 20 years and eaten here 4 times. On every occasion the food has been superb. The staff are all wonderful, friendly, helpful and treating you as a very honoured guest. Portions are...very generous, but what ever you do, make sure that you leave enough room for the Torta della Nonna desert. Out of this world.More
Really good pasta and very friendly staff. The upstairs part is like a grotto. We enjoyed our time there and recommend it. The day we went there, their phone and website did not work, so I had to walk there to book a table. I...was greeted there and they were surprised that there was no way to contact them, but guaranteed me a table.More
Really enjoyed this place. We are upstairs.—very nice atmosphere. Very large menu. We enjoyed our pasta (vongole, seafood, salmon, and a very generous arugula side salad. Pistachio semifreddo dessert was delicious too. Our waiter was very patient and good humored with someone in our party...who was very particular.More
Great food, great service. We came here for a birthday meal. We pre-booked, and were seated upstairs which was nice and cosy vibe. We had starters and they were big portions so I would recommend sharing them. Most of us ordered the florentine steak and...the waiter was very helpful for recommending which cut to choose. Great service, food was cooked to perfection, we all left full and happy. It’s definitely worth a visit!More
The service is the star, food is good but not great, service is fun and Italian. Is a experience you have to take.
I popped in here for lunch and was hungry and it looked good and had a very good steak with roast potatoes - absolutely brilliant. Service was good, steak for one didn't cost the earth, and would definitely come back if only for another steak!
This restaurant is not to be missed! The food is out of this world good. We had the truffle carbonara, the lobster pasta and the florentine steak, and all of them were amazing. La Grotta is only a short walk from the duomo but lacks...the busy crowd - for an authentic restaurant that the Florentine locals actually go to, this is the one to visit!More
Mid afternoon on a Sunday - great food, wine & service - beautiful setting - thank you very much indeed!!
We went here on a recommendation of a taxi driver in Cannes, FR. As luck would have it, our residence in Florence was only a 3 min walk away!! We made reservations for lunch and we were not disappointed. I had the ravioli with ricotta...and spinach and it was delicious! Others had the lazagna and a hamburger, which were also very good. The prochuto and melon was amazing, the bread they brought to the table was out too long, so a little stale. Overall, this place is a must stop for food. Of course, you can probably say that about any place you stop to eat at in Florence.More
Maitre d' greeted us warmly. She gave us a good table on the patio, which remained full until late in the evening. Two waiters served the tables at a good tempo. The waitress forgot one of the courses we had ordered, but that was ok...because the portions were rather big. The menu and wine list are good. The waitress let me compare two bottles; both had the temperature of the warm evening. I asked for a cooling bucket, and she provided one. Food was prepared and presented well. The restaurant honored its offer of a 30% discount for food. Our bill was reasonable.More
We came back for this Greek salad twice and would have circled back a third time if they hadn’t been so busy! Finding fresh veggies that are not juiced or cooked in Italy can be a challenge but the salads at this spot are phenomenal....A friend sent us here and it did not disappoint! The prosciutto and melons were also fabulous. Highly recommend 🙌More
