This small store is an absolute gem with a real friendly owner, we absolutely enjoyed it every afternoon for some aperetivos the five days we spent in Florence! Great drinks, fantastic view, not that expensive after all (5€ per big Spritz) and great food in addition. If you are in the area you will not regret stopping by the Ai... More

Nice place, excelent view outside... Great food, carefully prepared in front of you, not enough staff, one person for everything, she took her time to prepare the meal (i'm not complainig, it's nice when is your food, not so much when you're waiting in line)... She smiled all the time, i think she didn't speak english though... She just smiled... More

My husband and I stopped in twice in one day. We happened by as Francesca was opening in the late morning, and she handmade us fresh calzones to order (leeks and cheese, mushrooms and peppers). After a full day of walking, we stopped back before hitting train station for a couple more of her hand-sized calzones. In addition to the... More

We decided to pop into this little place as it seemed less formal than the others nearby. We were treated to a warm welcome and friendly service. We had some lovely Chianti reserve (around 4 euros per glass) and a platter of lovely cheese (with honey) and a selection of meats, all for 17 euros! the lovely woman owner/manager could... More

This restaurant looked friendly and welcoming as we walked by after a walk in the sun so we sat down. We had such a lovely aperitivo, and then food that we invited our family to join us for lunch! The service was lovely, the food was beautiful and very good value. Would thoroughly recommend.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
