Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Semel is equal parts about the food as it is about the experience. You walk in with a warm welcome of what you would like, posted menu changes everyday (and is available in English) with glasses of wine, have a seat and they are made...on the spot for you. We had plans to take to go, but knew we had to sit up to the little bar rail and on the stool to fully experience this great place. Sip and eat, share half with your partner, and enjoy! and by the way, these are nice sized, interesting sandwiches that most people eat...not the huge ones you might find elsewhere. There are plenty of those but this place...this place is unique.More

I am, by no means, a panini expert but these were truly amazing! The gentleman behind the counter was very patient with my inabilities to speak Italian. It is a little bit of a walk from the main square but it is definitely worth it....Give Semel a try!More

This gem of a sandwich shop is next to the Mercato San Ambrogio (a great, authentic food market), a bit off the main tourist trail and all the better for it. It's a tiny shop with very interesting panini options. The owner is very friendly...and helpful. There are a couple of seats to perch on in the shop but it is also easy to grab a sandwich to take away. Great find!More

If you wanna experience a gourmet meal served inside fragrant Italian bread and eat it on a side walk with a bunch of locals while drinking a glass of Chianti, this is the place. These two guys know what their doing and this Tuscan fast...lunch will be one to remember! All food is cooked on the spot with excellent fresh ingredients and part of the traditional Tuscan cuisine.More

Patrons are always nice and willing to speak English. Sandwiches are reasonably sized - not oversized - and to die for. You can tell that it is good, alone by the fact that many locals eat there. It is tiny - which is part of...its charm! Neighborhood is also charming. We have gone twice already in one week!More

Panini to die for all for 4 euros. The bread is toasted perfectly with wonderful ingredients. The owner was absolutely fabulous and so helpful! House wine for 1 euro. Are you kidding! Small, quaint space with daily specials. Lovely!

Delightful owner (excellent English) prepares delicious panini from scratch. There are just four seats but if there's room have a glass of wine for one euro and come away feeling refreshed having enjoyed an authentic experience. Vegetarian friendly but the pork and ratatouille was delicious....Just to the north of the St Ambroglio market but so small it's easy to miss.More

Fantastic service, great tasteful panino. Very few seatings, but grab and go, it’s worth it!! The price of the sandwich is just as fair as on the red wine.

Semel is a cupboard-sized spot near the Sant’Ambrogio market with just a few stools to perch on if you want to eat inside. A great place to grab a panini if you're on the go.
