We had visited Harry's in Rome so we thought Harry's of Florence, why not. Well the why not was a 21 Euro bowl of soup for my wife (small not great and expensive) and a pasta dish for me. Not bad but not a great value. Maybe we were paying for the name.

Initial mix up on booking until our Italian friend arrived and suddenly we had a great table with privacy. Prosecco cocktail and nibbles were very nice. The restaurant has a mixture of international and Italian cuisine. I had rich cheesy pasta starter (very tasty) and a just ok sole. Meringue pudding was grainy and over sweet with too much low... Finally back at Harry's Bar in Florence after many years. Thank god, with anything classic, nothing changes. Pure gold.

Rude service, was charged two drinks when I sent back a drink with the wrong gin inside, and way over priced for not being the real thing.

Always fun seeing our friends at Harry's. So difficult to go anywhere else for our three nights in wonderful Florence. The best steak tartar... Home away from home!

Lovely location and smartly dressed waiters but unjustifiably expensive. Club sandwich for €24! Not even Harrods or the Savoy charge that much. Wine cost €10 a glass but it had two finger height of wine, more like when the waiter or sommelier offers one a taster. Something did not feel right and the bill justified the feeling. 😟

Its a beuty to see the industrios bar tender preparing the cocktails, The Dry Martini can be discussed, its made of Bombay, originally thought is that it was Gordons. The Carpaccio is fabolous, even the Fiori di Zucca.

The drinks are awesome, but expensive. It's small and quaint and tables turn quickly. This place has a cool ambiance.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
