The food is very good. I had the ceviche and it was tasty and non-standard. The service is a bit too good, it feels like the waiters are too present. Meant very well, but it feels intrusive.

Food really good and well prepared, they must have a young Picasso in the kitchen to arrange each dish to a colorful perfection, which may explain the long time it takes for it being served. When prodding the waiter about the long wait I was sternly reminded that everything is done freshly (it is a 'fresh kitchen', never heard of... More

After receiving an amuse geule which was very good we started with a langustini and tuna sashimi dish which was very creative and good. We drunk a glas of a very good dry Sancerre. For the main course we had lamb sourloin with lentils cooked with mustard - another excellent combination. We had a bottle of Sagrantino which was very... More

We came for a nice dinner and received more than we expected. The service was excellent and friendly. From the beginning on we felt welcome and like we were part of the Oliv family. The entree of lukewarm sardines with a nice tomato-terrine was nothing like we had ever eaten before. As the main we were served by a amazingly... More

Oilv is a really great restaurant just outside the city centre and a less than a minute from the number 8 and 1 trams. The food is mediterranean influenced, modern without pretentious and excellent quality. The daily recommendations are always worth trying. The service is excellent, friendly and informal, but totally professional. The atmosphere is relaxed and the room is... More

Booked this restaurant over the internet...they have a great website....and had a lovely table outside. Food was fantastic and the service excellent. I would recommend this place probably to adults and older kids. Not the cheapest ( though this is Switzerland) but certainly value for money.

We went to Oliv on a quiet evening and had a most wonderful time. The restaurant has an elegant feeling without being too stuffy. The food is modern but recognizable featuring seasonal ingredients prepared in an unpretentious manner. The staff was very accommodating and never hovered or made us feel uncomfortable in any way. I would definitely go back to... More

One of our favourite restaurants in Basel. The black and white photographs of film actors creates an interesting atmosphere. The dishes of the day are always worth considering. The food and the service is always very good.
