I initially I was taken a back by the fast moving Lady of the House, the Lady in charge. There were two options and I wasn't sure which one I would get. As it was it was the cassoulet, fruits of the sea...and fruits they were, a delight ful and sensitive creation, although I Would have introduced a healthy addition... More

This restaurant was recommended to me as a reference in the Geneva area. The decor is as antiquated as its reputation. The service was warm but often absent during the meal. The food was very disappointing; the meat was tough and swam in an insipid sauce. The only saving grace was the fried potatoes.

After reading some of these reviews, my wife and I have decided to try this historical place and went there for dinner on a Saturday night after we made a reservation... To start with, the place was empty when we arrived except for an old couple who left without making an order. The reception was excellent, the guy was very... More

Cheerful cozy atmosphere and very easy access. Friendly service (on the phone, at the doorway and during our meal). Excellent meal with 2 choices for the lunch special and tempting dessert menu. Not sure whether you'd prefer the fondant, the tiramisu or the crême brulée? Order the café gourmand and you get a little bit of each. Heaven. For a... More

Established in the early 1900s, Auberge de la Mère Royaume is one of the oldest restaurants in Geneva. It’s named after a mother of 14 who lodged herself in Swiss history on a dark night in 1602 when she poured a cauldron of hot soup over a soldier as the Dukes of Savoy launched a surprise attack on the independent city-state. The victory is still celebrated every year during Fete d’Escalade, scenes of which are detailed in Auberge de la Mère Royaume impressive wood panelling. Combined with soft lighting, leather armchairs, and stained glass windows, it creates a wonderfully intimate Old World atmosphere. The inventive menu changes seasonally and features a handful of French classics. Service is polished.
