Ambiance is fantastic! I would definitely recommend making a reservation if you're going Friday or Saturday evening (you can do it online). It’s part of the Hotel Astoria and is a Michelin Star restaurant. We were luckily able to make same day reservations for Friday night but the following evening was booked pretty solid.
Food presentation is beautiful! Not only delicious but beautifully presented. Tom Ka Gai is unlike any I’ve had before. It’s very creamy and velvety. The lemongrass balance is perfection. We were able to make a substitution for the Gaeng Curry Nuea (masaman yellow curry) from beef to chicken. This dish was HEAVEN! Having had a little bite, we all wished this was our entree. We also had a Panaeng Nuea Prig Thai Oon (red curry) and a minced beef dish with basil but I forgot the name. All entrees are served with a hot plate to keep it warm and steamed rice is included.
Service was excellent! Good teamwork from the staff. We loved the hot towels provided after dinner. The aroma was delightfully floral and refreshing. The perfect way to complete a meal (although I advised my family not to get to use to that treatment). We will 100% be back on our next trip to Lucerne :)

We didn't have a reservation but we managed to get a spot with the warning we had until 20:00 (about just over an hour). Fine for us. The food was quite good. The satay as a starter was great, both in quality as in quantity. As a main we had the Guey Tiew Pad (which was simply good) and the Mou Priaw Wan (which was a lot of sauce with some average deep fried pork and vegetables, but not bad). Main issue here was the price, almost 50fr per main dish. The portions were large but they didn't need to be.
All in all we were having a good time and so didn't pay attention to the time. Because of this, when we finished our mains we ordered Tea for dessert. When the Tea arrived we were told that it was 20:10 and if we could please vacate our table within 3 minutes. Even though we did agree to leave at 20:00 it would have been nice to get a heads up a bit longer before we had to leave, as we didn't want to keep checking our phones.
Thay Garden is a decent restaurant with an amazing interior and good (but not excellent) food. It's a shame it's so overpriced.

This was one of the best dinners my partner and I have ever had. The decor was spot on - it was luxurious without feeling opulent or in-your-face, and the multiple levels meant that most areas felt intimate and private. It was perfect for a romantic dinner for two.
In terms of the food, we went with their tasting platter for two, which allowed us to sample many different items. Everything was great and pretty authentic (according to my partner, who grew up there). The service was also fantastic, we felt well cared for, but it was not overbearing.
I'd highly recommend this place for anyone in Lucerne, especially as a romantic evening out!

Stating that this is one of the 10 best restaurants in Switzerland is an insult. It's not even close to being one of the 10 best in Luzern. If not for the con I would otherwise have given it just a poor rating.
Don't expect you will even see anything that resembles their presentation on the web. We entered a dimly lit large inner room through a side door in an alley and were shown to a side table in what seems like a cramped passageway.
Food was lot's of deep fried stuff and lot's of sauce. You can get that at a fraction of the price in any Asian corner fast food, in Switzerland. Being exotic is not the same as being good. Please spare me a response, there is no excuse for this stuff at this kind of price.
The only positive thing I have to say about it is that there was a very friendly head-waiter and the Thai lady who waited on us was also very friendly even if it all lacked the kind of educated discretion you expect in a top class establishment.

On one hand, we try to entice our guests to Thailand with an elaborate decoration, live music, authentic kitchen and service culture and high-quality dishes for a meal. For this extraordinary experience, we must raise a corresponding expense, which not only covers the dish alone, but also the elaborate work in front of and behind the scenes. In Switzerland, the wage level is higher than in neighboring countries and rents are high. Added to this are the hefty purchase prices for food, which, according to calculations by Eurostat, are on average 73 percent higher than in the EU. Meat costs even 2.3 times more. I wanted to express my utterly unpleasant dining experience at Thai garden tonight.
I have to say I am really disappointed about tonight’s dinner experience. I understand things and general living costs are high in Switzerland, but the customer service is just a nightmare.
Will definitely not recommend anyone who expects nice food and good service to go dine there.
I went there with my partner for our anniversary, the waitress is very impatient, and most of the time very rude. When I was asking question about the wine, she even cut me and impolitely replied: “sorry I’m really busy” and left. Seriously, what was that?
I really wouldn’t mind paying 190€ for the dinner. But with this service attitude, I really think I shouldn’t have paid at all and, in effect, I firmly believe, for their utterly horrible service, they owed me and my partner a proper apology. Very upset after dining there. The worst experience ever.

Leaving the Pilatusstrasse you get into the exiting world of Thailand. the decoration is outstanding. We ordered several dishes , which can be a mistake, because each dish is so much , that its is sufficient for at least 2 person. The prices are high but the quality is excellent. Don't forget to preorder. Very polite service, we'll come back...

It is so nice to be able to come here again after Lockdown with my Wife. This is one of my favorite restaurant in Switzerland so i had come when it opened again. The food is still delicious as always and the ambient give you feeling that you are in Thailand. Too bad that i can’t go holiday to Thailand this year. That’s why I need to come here again soon.

The ambience that will welcome you is quite a positive surprise and a great ambience.
The quality of the service and friendliness deserves a mention, as it is of superior level.
The Thai food is surely not a Michelin level, as it is a very westernized Thai, nothing really special. If on top of that you add the rice, which clearly not of good quality, there you have it.
Get ready for a hefty bill, really not worth it.

We've been here several times before and the service and food have always been impeccable and our last visit was no exception. We booked early for a pre-theatre dinner and we're concerned about getting out in time. But those concerns were groundless! Somehow, and I don't know how, they maintained the excellent level of service and we were finished in just one hour but without at any point feeling rushed. I can't express how pleased I was with a great start to our evening.
Also on a more current note, we think the tables were spaced enough for the Covid-19 restrictions but again without feeling uncomfortable. In short, to me this is one of my favourite restaurants in Switzerland having lived her for over 20 years and I can't recommend it strongly enough.

Very nice ambience which is significantly overpaid.
Were eating there for my wife's birthday.
I had pointed out when making the reservation, at the reception this was also mentioned and congratulated, but that was it.
The restaurant:
- The dishes, delicious, but the beef curry eg only meat and sauce, not a piece of vegetables etc.
- Compared to a fillet in other restaurants Price performance is not right
- Children's dish for 39 CHF is not appropriate, significantly overpriced, even in the star restaurant we pay less.
- Waiting time for the main course over 1 hour
- in the middle of the restaurant there are two stations for the staff to serve and prepare, which leads to the waiters constantly standing around you. And at less than 1m distance. It sucks.
Conclusion:
The ambience is really exceptional if you are willing to pay 30% more than usual, everything is ok.

On Saturday, I went with some friends to try breakfast, and I thought it was a fantastic experience all around. The staff were pleasant and accommodating, and the food was wonderful. One of the waiters helped me with my dish when I needed it because I had hurt my hand. One woman, meanwhile, didn't appear to be smiling at all. She had short black hair and seemed to be in middle age. Her attitude made me feel uneasy. I expected more professional service from a place of this level.

Positive:
Very nice ambience.
Exceptionally friendly and attentive staff, the guest feels (almost) like a king.
The food was very plentiful and tasted perfect.
The starter plate for 2 people (CHF 68.00) was enough for 4 people.
1 liter of tap water was free.
Negative:
The price/performance ratio is rather negative.
The wine price for a 3/8 bottle of Pèppoli (3.75 dl) CHF 51.00!
The espresso is not recommended, but after we complained it was immediately replaced with an espresso, probably from the trattoria next door 😉.
Unfortunately there is no menu on the homepage.
The warm towel at the end was forgotten, it would have been appreciated especially after the finger food starter!
Why so many (14) Gault&Millau points???
A visit for a special occasion is always recommended if you accept the high prices.

Ate here 23.07. Green curry and sweet and sour pork + Spring rolls, and a bottle of sparkling water, seemed extremly expensive for normal standard thai dishes, but that was OK!
What was not OK was that, when we paid the bill was 135 CHF so that I said we would pay, however the waitress asked how much we would pay, 140/150 and I said no 135. Obviously being naive I didnt ask for the receipt only to discover the next day that they charged us 155 CHF!
I have since sent 2 e-posts asking for a refund of the 20 CHF which was unlawfully taken from my account, but still havent even recieved a reply!
Totally unacceptable and unproffesional in my eyes!

Very nice restaurant, staff are kind and welcoming. The menu is pretty rich, until you get to the desserts and try to order one: they brought us a small leaflet with just three choices, one of which fruit, the others being ice cream and Tiramisù (nothing Thai whatsoever).
Food quality average, prices quite high even by Swiss standards.
