My friends and I visited this restaurant on Jan 14, 20017. I believe this is one of the best restaurants in Zermatt. Menu consists mainly of lamb. We tasted three different lamb dishes and all of them were excellent. This is a right place for those who love lamb. Vine list is big and comprises a lot of local vines.

LOcated in the Hotel Julen, this restaurant offers good tasting fresh food and served in decent portions. Not cheap, the restaurant has a good standard of service and somewhere which gets busy especially around lunch and dinner. Reservations would be a good idea especially if your party is bigger than 2 pax, as the restaurant like most Swiss gems is... More

We had a wonderful dinner for my husbands birthday. Definitely make a reservation prior as the restaurant is small. Excellent food and wine. They surprised us with a wonderful chocolate cake and candle for my husband. The owner came and checked in with us as well. Great experience!

Located downstairs under the Hotel Julen, this cozy restaurant is just wonderful -- quintessentially Zermatt. We went for Christmas Eve dinner with a family party of six people. The tables were decorated with little pine branches and small Santa's were all around on the window sills and shelves. Some of us ordered the raclette -- the national dish of Switzerland,... More

Great food ! Great service! Outstanding wine recommendations! Restaurant has 2 areas - downstairs and upstairs. Down is very traditional - typical Swiss feel. Up is more modern, but the same menu and all. We are at both places - super!

My wife and I visited this restaurant for dinner and I immediately felt comfortable in their cozy setting with a blazing fire grill. The decor was a lot of rustic knickknacks and sheepy. People who dislike or don't eat lamb be forewarned; this place specialises in lamb in most if not all their dishes! We had the hay soup and... More

My wife and I have been to Zermatt 3 times and we have gone to this restaurant at least 6 times during those different trips. They grill all of their meats over an open firepit; the lamb is to die for! We tried lamb for our first time at this restaurant, now we are hooked and make it at home... More

We had an excellent time at the Schäferstube. Both of us used to be skeptical when it comes to lamb but there was no disappointment at this cozy restaurant. The meat was tender and perfectly prepared on open fire. Also don't miss the Raclette! Either as appetizer or all you can eat main. Delicious!
