When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is an expensive restaurant - our meal for the cost £242 for which we had two small bowls of soup and four small spring rolls and four pot sticker dumplings, two halves of peking duck and three portions of ice cream with fruit -...together with a bottle of average red wine. The spring rolls and dumplings were not up to much and the duck was not shredded at our table but cut into slices, and instead of plenty of cucumber and spring onion strips there were meagre portions of tasteless onions. There were just sufficient small pancakes and plum sauce. The interior decor is lavish and the table linen perfect but the food was a disappointment.More

Impeccable service and fantastic food, a must when in Lausanne. We had Sesame prawns and duck dumplings to start with followed by spicy prawns, pineapple chicken and rice and a duck and pancakes. We finished with Jasmine tea. The setting is wonderful with fish under...the walkway and bridges. Spotlessly clean.More

After the pandemic, we are back again at this chinese restaurant in Lausanne, the best in town I would say. They have maintained the fine quality of their food. The peking duck was superb. Crispy skin and tender meat. The scallop dumpling was excellen, crispy...and juicy. Service is always outstanding. Worth coming back here.More

After 20+ years and still in business and there must be a good reason… actually, there are many reasons! Having lived in Lausanne for several years, this became my go-to authentic Chinese restaurant after trying out a few similar ethnic restaurants. Most of the competitors...were either unauthentic, gave bad service, and / or overpriced for what they were worth. I am not saying that it is cheaper here (as ethnic meals are never cheap in Switzerland) but the authentic service and dishes are worth their prices. Returning to Lausanne and having had my fondue fix, I wanted to head back and risked bringing old & new friends, who might have been disappointed, as many places do not uphold their qualities. All their qualities have not changed since leaving Switzerland those years ago. It was like I never left. Even some of the original staff are still working there. And the beautiful of it all, they survived COVID-19!!! Totally recommended!More

It’s hidden away in quite an ugly modern building, but go inside and it’s really elegant and classy, nice wooden panels and table settings. The food is fantastic and they have plenty of staff, so they serve you promptly. Really worth a visit!

The search for the ideal Chinese restaurant can take you from divey joints with plastic tablecloths to fine dining experiences on par with what most restaurant-goers would typically expect from the cliche of French, Japanese, or Italian cuisines. Au Canard Pekinois somehow manages to manifest...the best that there is to offer across this entire spectrum. A relatively unassuming facade built into the hillside city of Lausanne, you walk into Au Canard Pekinois immediately met by an underfloor koi pond, with live fish gracefully guiding you to the simple, yet elegant dining room. The service is impeccable. Restaurant staff (and the proprietor if you’re lucky!) are quick to offer water and selections from an extensive Chinese tea menu or a cuvée from a well-curated Swiss wine program. But nothing beats the food. Steaming pot of traditional mapo tofu. Perfectly sweet and succulent char siu (Chinese-style bbq pork). Fresh bok choi flash fried in a wok and topped with the crispiest of minced garlic pieces. Au Canard Pekinois elevates the humblest of traditional Chinese dishes with fresh ingredients, deep flavor, and a nostalgia that transports you to another world. And of course, the duck. True to its namesake, Au Canard Pekinois doesn’t hold back on it’s signature dish. Cut tableside by a skilled staff member, crispy skinned duck is perfectly cooked and garnished with the typical sliced spring onion and cucumber. And a perfectly balanced plum sauce helps cut through the rich meat. But the game changer is an obviously housemade crepe, paying homage to the traditional Chinese bun as well as the classic French pancake. The crepes are served piled high in a bamboo steaming basket, with rough edges around the circumference so you know they were made in the traditional French style. And to round out the perfect bite, tiny sprinkles of sugar every so slightly caramelized into each crepe before it was flipped just before browning. Visiting from California, I went to Au Canard Pekinois in search of a quick bite for something safe and familiar. Instead, I left with a newfound appreciation for Chinese cuisine that can be demonstrated no matter where you are in the world. It was without a doubt one of the most memorable dining experiences of my life - holding its own with the best of taco trucks and the Michelin-starred jaunts of the world. Credit is where credit’s due. If I could, I would give it 6 stars.More

The restaurant is a must eat if you’re in Lausanne. The decor is absolutely amazing, from the Woden walls to the pond of koi fish. The food was to die for, extraordinary taste and impeccable service. Overall, wonderful experience!

The restaurant is located in a charmless area of Lausanne, but it can easily be reached through public transport or by car (go to « parking Chauderon »). The restaurant is vast, very nicely decorated with an aquarium catwalk and a friendly atmosphere. The waiters are very...professional and smiling, available when needed without being too intrusive. The food is a total bliss. We took a dégustation menu and every dish was great. I personally really enjoyed the soup, which had so many colorful unusual flavors. If you want to please someone who really loves Asian food, this is definitely the place to go in Lausanne.More

I visited this restaurant with my husband for dinner. First impressions of the restaurant- it was spacious and lavished with beautiful furniture. It is definitely a place that you can sit comfortably and enjoy your meal. We ordered dishes that included peking duck, garlic prawns,...eggplant hot pot, wonton soup and shredded duck soup. The peking duck dish was the main highlight of our meal and we both enjoyed it very, very much! The meat was very moist and the skin of the duck was very crispy. The duck was roasted to perfection and it brought out the natural flavours of the duck. The temperature of the duck and the pancakes were on point. We couldn't stop making more wraps and it was definitely more than enough for the two of us to finish. The garlic prawns were JUMBO and very flavourful. The prawns, eggplant and soups complemented the peking duck very well. We also had dessert and coffee to finish off our meal. The dessert wrapped our meal up beautifully- the coconut ice cream, sweet glutinous rice and fresh fruits paired really well together. Also, the wine selection is amazing, there are many wines to choose from. Customer service was solid. We were greeted by friendly servers throughout the night and it was definitely a memorable experience during our vacation! We highly recommend this restaurant! Thank you!More

Tried the Penkin duck menu. Flawless from start to finish; the dumplings and the broth on their own were already quite an experience, absoultely delicious. Intense delicious duck flavour all trhoughout. The chefs are extremly friendly and we got to talk with them, they even...let us see the kitchen. A fermented red tea was recommended to us, it did fit the dish perfetcly with its long, ever devlopping aromas going from raw cocoa to pear. As for the duck itself, it was undoutebly one of the best I've had. If there is one thing that could be improved it would be the dessert. But I wasn't even looking for one, as the savoury dishes are the main motivation of course. I most definitly would recommend!More

Here is the opposite of what you might expect on a Summer evening : no metal table out on a terrace but thick layers of sparkling white tablecloth, no Chinese fast food but high standards and fresh broths, no chilly draughts but a glass bridge....Do indulge in Puffed crabs' claws, Steam pasta purses and The Famous Half Duck. Quiet and noble, affectionate and handsome.More
