Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This restaurant serves as the training group for chefs, waiting staff, and sommeliers. The quality and complexity of the food was fantastic. Since the service was provided by students (with close supervision by highly experienced senior waiters and sommeliers, some of the descriptions of the...food were limited by language barriers and lack of familiarity with the menu. Nevertheless, we enjoyed every course (we opted for the full five course tasting menu, which includes an appetizer, fish course, meat course, cheese, and dessert) including the presentation, unique flavors, high quality ingredient, and unusual combinations of Asian and other culinary influences. The wine list was excellent especially the options for many carefully selected Swiss wines and some great choices of wine by the glass including Champagne and dessert wines. All in all, a memorable and highly positive dining experience!More

We had been to Berceau des Sense on three previous occasions, but all before they secured one star in the Michelin guide. We returned in Nov. 2021 for a wedding anniversary dinner and this time opted to eat à la carte. The prices have risen...quite steeply since the award of the star, but that's to be expected. Our starters - grilled octopus, frog legs, sashimi de St. Jacques - were good to very good, with the frog legs standing out. My daughter's mallard duck dish was good, but my turbot main course was somewhat under-seasoned. The fish was cooked precisely, but the truffle crust and sauce were a little bland.. we had a bottle of Chateau l'Evangile 2015 - that was truly sublime and worth every centime. Service here is by the students of the hotel school so you may experience some ups and downs. What was less positive was the issue with finding a suitable parking (the old restaurant parking not being available) and an avoidable error with the bill which we pointed out (being charged seven mains and four starters instead seven starters and four mains) and which at that level should not happen,,,,,More

The restaurant has got the Michelin star lately The uniqueness of that pace is that you are getting to the university of hospitality, the best in Swiss Are you are served by the bright and talented students of the best in the world university The...process is controlled by the experienced experts But the young guys knows what they are doing On top, everything is really very tasty, perfectly decorated and well thought over Also try desserts: those are really perfect I would strongly recommend this unique combination of atmosphere, quality and styleMore

We went with no expectation to the restaurant of the Ecole hôtelière but it was an amazing surprise: great food, great service. We could talk to the students and we even visited the kitchen! It is really a place to go either with your family...or business partners but be warned that you have to make a reservation.More

Coming back this year, as I loved my first experience at BDS. This time as lunch and not dinner. I specified that I only had one hour and was assured to have time, however I had to leave without having desert (but paid for it)...due to a late start of the service team. A shame as the dish was excellent.More

First trip to BDS at EHL. One star Michelin, the only school-run, student managed restaurant to earn this. Good service, excellent food. Open during the EHL school year, closed for the summer. Good wines with Italian award winning sommelier Davide at the helm. Some very...nice, sometimes nervous students providing good service. This restaurant will only improve with time.More

we were so lucky to get a reservation short term, and were really curious about our first Michelin Star Restaurant experience. We were welcomed warmly and the service of the EHL students was excellent. We chose the four course menu. As I have to avoid...gluten I was specifically advised on which courses would suit my needs. As a starter I chose grilled duck liver, and the aroma of strawberry and rhubarb was a revelation. My main course was the Entrecôte, the meat was perfect, the fermented chinese cabbage gave it a special note, a little too sour maybe for people not so used to sauerkraut. The choice of cheese was great, my favourite ones the goat cheeses. The only glutenfree dessert was a coffee-chocolate triangle with tangerine and this was just amazing. My husband and daughter had fish and vegetarian dishes and were delighted, too. We had a little rosé champagne and some pinot noir, both very good. This was the first time here but definitely not the last one!More

Our experience at BDS was perfect from start to finish. Attentive and unobtrusive the service was perfect. Food was beautiful at each course and also lovely to see the students being continually coached, encouraged and supported in their hospitality journey. A truly special experience.

It is always a pleasure to come to the BDS. This time was change of shift for student and the new ones were very green. That is ok though. I have to say for the first time I saw a student that was not really...into it all... it is a pity because all the others were really willing. The food on the other hand was delicious as always and if not better. We had four gras, crab, scallops and burbot... exquisite ! My dishes were customized due to lactose intolerance and that was very well done. The sommelier apprentice did a great job as well and my white wines were all delicious. A special plus for the sweet wine from Geneva!More

What makes Le Berceau des Sens so special for the customer is the fact that students of the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne are in charge of the service (the kitchen also, but you don’t see it). Under the supervision of their teachers, they run the...place and their eagerness and lack of routine makes for a delightful moment. The dishes are top notch - the chef has earned a Michelin star - and the price is low; a really unfair competition for the other starred chefs in the region: they have to pay their employees, not the other way round as is the case of Le Berceau des Sens. But the customer is happy, very happyMore

This restaurant just received its very first Michelin star. It's worth it. The service was impeccable (the slightest issue came when a student could not remember the name of a few of the cheese and was a bit slow at plating– which I personally did...not find tragic!!). The wine we had at dinner (petite arvine) and sweet wine (vin de constantia) were perfect to accompany our six course meal! The tasting menu was sublime, and the portions more than satisfying in terms of both presentation and taste. I definitely recommend a stop here to anyone in Lausanne, also because I find the combination of professional staff members and students to be admirable.More
