Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Extremley fresh, authentic and tasty eritrean food. Takes some time to be prepared but every second is worth waiting for it

We have tried for the first time Eritrean food at the restaurant Red Sea. The staff is friendly and the food is prepared fresh. Hence, be prepared to wait for some time before you get a great tasty meal. Enjoy!

A nice, little restaurant in the city. The service was good and the food was really delicious! If in Lausanne and looking for something different to eat, this would be definitely on top of my list! Assuming you don't mind using your bare hands!

We were excited to try African food and reviews looked great. What a disappointment. Food was tasteless and we had to wait for it over 30 min. Look for something else if you want a good food.

What a great experience and an even better meal. Read about this restaurant on Trip Advisor and my wife and I had dinner there tonight. It was wonderful. Had the assorted platter for two. Many different selections, all tasty. The staff was friendly and very...helpful in guiding us to order the right dish. Would definitely go back if we had more time. You’ll eat plenty of Swiss, French and Italian food while you’re here so be adventurous and treat your tastebuds to some great Eritrean food.More

Had an excellent meal. This was my Dad’s first time eating this type of cuisine. He really enjoyed it. Everything was delicious and I would definitely recommend. Good beer, great food, great service!

Really amazing food that I could just not stop eating. Ended up eating more than my share and the kids actually ended up with less than their equal share ( we all ate from a common dish / plate and it’s easy to lose track...of the “border” on the dish :)). Shame on me but just a testament to the delicious food! . ( PS - bought my kids forgiveness with some ice cream later on). Only area of improvement was the size of the table vs the size of the serving dish/plate. The plate is huge and leaves very little place on the table for anything else. Must visit though!More

Ethiopian food of great quality and with superb service. It was cheap considering the amount and quality. Very tasty, and not so spicy that it will scare anyone away. On the contrary, it tasted excellent, and was a perfect finish to a business meeting, but...great for friends and couples. The service was fantastic. Always smiling and helpful, and clearly proud of the food and the experince they provided, in the best possible way. And with pointers on how to eat it properly for the uninitiated. Highly recommended if you are into Adrican food or just a good experience with friends.More

We were a party of six, three of which not acquainted yet with Ethiopian cuisine. We all loved it! The place is authentic and no frills, everybody very friendly. We'll be back!

I've found it by chance, but I was amazed. What convinced even more was the presence of many people from Ethiopia eaten and hanging around the place. Injera is amazing and the zighini (btw. I missed th egg) was enough spicy (I would suggest more...berberè, but I know that the risk would be to have locals not coming) and super-tasty! Easy going place.More

I went for lunch on a weekday. Standard furnishings and Ethiopian handicraft wall decorations. As usual there was a gaggle of African men sitting around drinking beer but being inoffensive to anyone. The place smelled like onions which made my eyes water a bit. But...I guess that adds to the authenticity of the experience, haha. Bathroom small and clean. The owner is very sweet and friendly. The menu was pretty standard what I've seen in every Ethiopian restaurant. And the prices are reasonable like most such restaurants. I was surprised though to see some lamb dishes cheaper than some vegetarian ones. I had the creamed yellow peas (excellent) and the spinach (bit bland). He offered second helpings which I thought was an unusually generous gesture. I left stuffed.More

The food was delicious and the waiter adorable. He offered us ethiopian tea after the dinner and was very attentive. Also the prices are pretty cheap, they exclusively use swiss meat. Great place!

This place is amazing, so amazing that I ate here three days in a row. Being an Eritrean it's usually hard to go out and find a restaurant that makes home made style meals . Not only is the food amazing but the chef is...super nice and accommodating, since we were visiting from the us he made an effort to speak to us in English ensuring that we were comfortable . Sad that I live so far away this place is truly a gem .More
