We stayed here for 1 night and ate Sunday lunch. The Sunday lunch was good, but the rooms are so loud. They are right above the pub, the music sounds if anything louder in the above rooms than it did downstairs in the pub. This...was a Sunday and the music continued until after 10 clock. It’s really not a relaxing atmosphere to be in and this should have been noted somewhere prior to booking. It’s a shame as the rooms have been done beautifully but the noise ruined our experience. The lady that showed us to our room wasn’t exactly helpful when we asked for a tea and coffee to be brought up, her answer was we are a pub not a hotel. We didn’t think it was much to ask to walk up a few stairs. There was also confusion over the bill at lunch we asked to put it on our room which we of course would have paid before we left and dropped the key the following morning but instead the same lady decided to come and hunt us down for payment. For £400 for the night we was very disappointed to say the least.More

Beautifully presented country pub with gorgeous rooms. My husband and I stayed for one night while my in-laws looked after our children. We were looking to simply ‘get away’ for a night and enjoy some well needed rest and peace. Our room was stylish but...traditional. The soft furnishings were beautiful and the bed was generous and comfortable. No expense spared in terms of the quality of the decor. The bathroom was large with a freestanding bath and walk-in shower. Delightful on a cold winter’s day. Bamford toiletries and fluffy white towels! We stayed on a Thursday which was pizza evening with a DJ. We did think the music was a touch loud but it was a fun and buzzy vibe and the pizzas were delicious. Great drinks menu (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) too. The fire was blazing in the bar and the bar/restaurant space was warm and welcoming. We returned to our room around 9.30pm. We could hear the DJ until 10pm and then it went quiet (we had been forewarned so this was fine). Delicious breakfast served the following morning. I wanted to stay another night! Check-out was friendly and professional. The manager double-checked our bill with me item by item before charging my card which felt very transparent and I liked this. Room prices seem to have increased since we booked but we would like to return.More

Incredible weekend stay at The Fox. Terrific food and service, a stellar breakfast I still miss now and a perfect room to relax for the weekend. We were able to take the dog and had great walks on the doorstep and local villages to wander...about in. A world away from the pace of the city.More

We spent the weekend at The Fox Inn, hoping for a quiet weekend with good food and long walks. While they have done an excellent job of the interiors and our room in particular was very well done, the vibe of the place is more...like an Ibiza beach club than pub. From the moment breakfast finishes they play loud thumping music throughout the pub all day until closing at 11pm, all of which can be heard in the rooms. While they do warn you that the rooms are above the bar, when I called to ask about how loud it actually was, the lady told me that it wasn't too bad and they'd had no complaints. I later found out from the manager on site that this was not true. To top things off, on our last morning, we arrived at breakfast at 10.05am, to be told that the chefs would not serve us anything as they had moved onto lunch prep. Despite some to-ing and fro-ing with the waitress who was doing her best to accommodate us, it became clear that the chefs were calling the shots and dictating how the pub runs rather than the customers. While it might be okay for lunch or dinner (if Ibiza beach club is the vibe you are after), I would strongly not recommend this as a place to stay.More

Great dining room with a lively buzz on a Friday evening. Daylesford Winter Garden Salad is epic. Pizzas got the thumbs up too. This place is delightfully tucked away in a quiet location yet only minutes from Stow. Parking may be tricky.

Really, really good pizza…..a real unexpected surprise. Disappointed with the offhand attitude of the maitre’d. We’ve been here pre Lady Bamford and post…..always pleasant. Decided to have a light lunch and thought we’d try the pizza. Chose to share a ‘Diavolo’……a very good choice, recommend...it. The lady md was a little offhand from the start but when we got the bill, I commented that I’d thought the pizza was £17 as opposed to the £19 on the bill. She said and did nothing as I paid. Going to the gents before we left, I glanced at the menu and it was £17 for the pizza. Back at the table, told her……she went off without saying anything and came back with £2 in coin and said ‘sorry about that’. What she should have done of course was to engage when I made the initial comment……and checked? Guessing not many would have bothered mentioning the £2 overcharge and she saw it as meaningless…….but it’s the principle. Wouldn’t stop us going back but I’d try to avoid her if possible. All the other staff we encountered were much warmer and smiley. Perhaps she was just having a bad day.More

We recently spent a family meal at The Fox, what a wonderful place; beautiful setting and a lovely atmosphere. However having ordered meals for Children’s starters and then mains, the Children’s main meal was brought out before anyone including the children had received their starter....That wasn’t a problem to us, we let the waiter know they hadn’t had their starters but what was the problem was the rudeness of two members of staff (one of whom seemed to be the manageress!! although it was unclear if that was her position) she eye rolled directly at us as though we were causing her a problem for simply asking for a starter to be brought before a main! Never in my life have I ever experienced such rude service, everything was a problem for her. She should not be working in hospitality with an attitude like that. We felt as though our simply being there was a major issue for her. She spoilt the whole meal for us, which is so sad as the young girls who also served us and the male senior member of staff were charming. We simply ate our mains and left and would not be paying the £64 service charge expected after the worse service we have had in our lives! A real shame as we love The Wild Rabbit and Daylesford but will not return to have eyes rolled at us for simply requesting that a starter was brought out before a main!!!! Finally to point out as a dog lover myself there is a time and a place for them, and sat at a dinner table on their owners knees where people are going to eat their meals and barking constantly in a restaurant is not one of them! I’m not sure how this is hygienic in any way.More

Atmosphere calm, relaxed. Ambience, perfect, staff, amazing, work VERY Hard and aim to please. We wanted a different christmas so we went to stay in a Cottage very near Lower Oddington, never been to Cotswolds area, planned to spend alot of our time in a...good traditional pub to drink and have nibbles. We hit the jackpot with The Fox. We sat at the bar xmas eve and xmas day. All the Bar staff were super efficient and made us very welcome. As did everyone in the Pub, very interactive, very dog friendly and great conversation with locals and other people visiting. Can not see why anyone would not like this place. We will be back for sure. Thank you to all at The Fox.More
