Found two hairs in my very under-cooked pasta dish, generally terrible eating experience. There are so many other great restaurants both in this cozy neighborhood and in Amsterdam, so don't waste your time going to this one.

We have been to Assaggi a couple of times as we live locally. The first time we put the bad service down to it being very busy, but the other night we had even worse service and it wasn't very busy. We had to ask for our own menu, ask to order our own food and then ask to have... More

This restaurant is located in a wonderful part of Amsterdam. Having looked at numerous eateries in the area we decided on here due to the fact that it was very busy, frequented by both locals and visitors alike. Initial thoughts were positive with a nice atmosphere, Due to the fact that this is a small restaurant. Garlic prawns were excellent... More

After walking around central Amsterdam, and in the Jordaan District, we started finding restaurants full. But walking the small back streets, just off the canal side streets, found this small Italian restaurant. Full of mostly locals we were offered a streets side, window table. The current reviews are accurate. Service good; food very good as well. I would agree that... More

I stayed only one night in Amsterdam, with business at Schiphol. Since I was at the Linden hotel this restaurant is a short walk away. It is busy with fresh pasta made at the window and a lovely welcome by the friendly waitress. I was a lone diner but felt very comfortable and the staff were attentive, the food was... More

Having lived in South Asia, we were looking for some genuine Indonesian food on our visit to Amsterdam, and we found it at Blauw. Dinner for the eight of us was delicious and the service was also excellent. The sate's and beef rendang were as good as one could find in Jakarta..in fact, better than most! A great night out... Italian restaurants have to work hard to produce food that is not at the very least ok. This one worked that hard. Still got bad metallic taste in mouth from the special of the day risotto

This is a cute little restaurant, hidden in a back street. It seems to be visited by many locals. The service was ok, quite character-filled staff. The food was absolutley delicious although for standard Italian to me it seemed overpriced. We did have a small issue where a bolt (as in a proper nut and bolt) had somehow come lose... More

Not the easiest place to find, this little Italian restaurant in the Jordaan is worth the effort. Walk down the Prisengracht, cross the canal opposite the Westekerk and it is the little street in front of you. The service was friendly and helpful and the house red very drinkable. The atmosphere was cosy and warm and the restaurant is very... More

Assaggi is a nice, proper Italian place on the best street in Amsterdam (check out all the restaurants, you won't go wrong here). The food is excellent, although the price/quality ratio is just ok. Nice atmosphere and definitely worth a visit if you are looking for smart Italian but not top-end.

Staying in Jordaan

Neighbourhood Profile
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
