My wife and I and our son and daughter (39 and 36) had been walking around Amsterdam seeing the sights and were looking for a place to have a nice dinner. After seeing several restaurants this place caught our eye and we went in. We were...More

This used to be one of my favorite places. A tiny very good Italian restaurant, but since they have a new owner the food is average. Nothing really wrong, but not as it used to be. The restaurant is now more or less part of...More

We just got turned away from this supposed "gem" within 2 minutes of placing our order! We were a table of 2 and wanted to have a glass of wine and share a dish of ravioli. Apparently that wasn't sufficient for the staff. We were...More

Wow what a terrible terrible time we had here. Small, overcrowded, only one chef, we waited an hour and a half for cold tomato linguine with a tiny bit of lobster on it and we had to pay full price. We came for a special...More

The staff are welcoming and friendly, the food is varied and delicious (the lobster pasta was fantastic), the house wine was good, the coffee was great, the limoncello was delicious and the tiramisu was pretty good too. We'll definitely come back.

Location is good. Centre of Jordaan in Amsterdam and a small picturesque alley with restaurants left and right. However the place was quite small and we got to sit on a table that was practically blocking the entrance door & one more table. My friend...More

Small restaurant in the middle of the Jordaan with an excellent menu and friendly service. My dining companions were attracted by the pasta with lobster but had no high hopes to find a lot of lobster in their plates. Imagine their surprise when a half...More

We discovered Hostaria as we walked along a quiet, but particularly restaurant-rich, street in Jordaan and elected to return for dinner. We began our meal with some wonderful buffalo mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil over a bed of arugula. Our mains were linguine con vongole (clams)...More

Wonderful food and service. We enjoyed our Italian waiter who guided us through the menu and wine selection. We particularly enjoyed the outside seating. It felt like being in Italy.

One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and
some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two
of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll
through this especially convivial warren of narrow
streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and
quality galleries. Historically a haven for the
working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is
better known as an enclave for artists and designers.
