We searched for a while to find a restaurant on the canal that had open seating. The food is also reasonably priced for the area and the service was decent. However, I didn't think my meal was all that special and the wine left something to be desired. Overall, eat here for the view and the experience, not for a... More

We both love Thai food and this food was really tasty. We had a dish each both of which came with rice and we also had Pad Thai. All the dishes were delicious but the portions were big so you don't need to order too much. Staff were really nice too

Being born in Amsterdam and travelling back regularly, this is truly a hidden gem. The staff are wonderful and the food arrives so quickly and it's situated in such a cute little spot next to a canal near the Nieuwmarkt. The chicken satay is so different to any other I've ever tried but is highly recommended. Delicious.

After wandering around the red light district looking for food and feeling a little uninspired we luckily stumbled upon this place. it didn't look like much but the menu didn't seem overpriced and it was pretty full so we went on in. The service was great , really friendly. Food was exactly like it is in Thailand, with a couple... More

I Am really disappointed. We ware a group of friends who ate here but when we wanted to pay we ware NOT allowed to pay for ourselves, we had to pay in 1 amount. The lady said she did not have time and she was frustrated and angry with us. I have never ever in Amsterdam after 5 years living... More

Visited with friends. The place doesn't stand out but it was busy so we thought it must be good and went inside. It my was my first time eating Thai food and I thought it was lovely. Very spicy. The service was really good and the beer was nice.

very modest from the outside, simple from the inside, once you get inside and take a deep breath you are in one of the markets of Thailand. food is great, staff is nice and polite. A must visit at Amsterdam

We fancied Thai food on our first night in Amsterdam as it is comfortably our favourite cuisine and we like to try it everywhere we go. We strolled past the Song Kwae and it definitely doesn't jump out at you amongst the hustle and bustle but I must recommend you go into here if you are after good honest Thai... More

The pad Thai was delicious!! Just the right amount of spice, sauce, and flavor. The chicken was well cooked, noodles al dente, green onions too largely chopped, perfect amount of peanuts. The thai iced tea was VERY sweet and had that funny taste that European milk has.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
