Food is okay, not much difference compare with many other herring selling booths in AMS. The service was impressively rude. When asking for menu the owner just look at us and laughing arrogantly with his friend in shop, pointing the herring and said "this is the herring"... Reading from his face one can easily figure out: "yeah yeah, I know... More

Amazing lunch and very cheap. Friendly owner took a while to find but worth the search to experience real Dutch food.

The herring sandwich is only €3 and will knock your socks off. Staff are incredibly nice. I had lunch here almost every day.

The herring sandwich was good but nothing to write home about. Cheap, but also small. This is a really small place and the smell from the fryer was a bit strong, so we just ate as we walked.

Came here couple of time during my stay in Amsterdam for lunch. We had herring and eels. They are fresh and tasty. The owner is super friendly. Would definitely go back there again the next time I am in Amsterdam.

It took us considerable effort to hunt this shop down after reading up on it on trip advisor. We were quite disappointed that it was a much smaller shop than we expected with only 2 tables for 4, and a bar counter for 2. Being conservative as we were with elderly, we ordered the fried fishes which were ordinary to... More

We stopped here for a quick lunch and that is exactly what it was. Just three tables and few seats, but a very friendly owner and very tasty food. We tried herring, smoked salmon, smoked mackerel - simple and delicious.

Very nice experience. Dive into the local culture in this restaurant that is very cheap (3 euros a great sandwich) and talk to the guy. He is super friendly. Definitely worth the visit, multiple times.

Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away.
