We have been to this tasteful and warm restaurants a view times. It had a typical Amsterdam ambiance in a small souterrain next to the canals and the menu is very good. especially the vegetarian options and the ostrich itself are surprisingly good! What a pity that the waitress yesterday gave us the feeling she wanted us out of there... More

A lovely little bistro tucked downstairs in the Grachtengordel district of Amsterdam. The atmosphere is very friendly, decor a little rustic and food organic with a French twist. The menu may be a little limited for some but not for us and the 3 course menu at just over 26 Euro is good value. My wife chose slightly better than... More

I went to this restaurant with some work colleagues. We weren't expecting too much from the restaurant as it is on the underground, low profile and very small. Although was excellent, flavorful and really well presented. I highly recommend.

Went with a group of 6 and they easily accommodated, which was a surprise in this 'sunken into the street' gem! Super cosy and the atmosphere was rich and warming. Only had one vegetarian option at that time as another had run out, but very happy with the meal and service

We went on Saturday night - you need to book! Many people who dropped in hoping to get a table were turned away. It was very busy, and at times a bit too hectic. That said, the waiting staff were great and the food delicious although neither of us the ostrich!

Perfect culinary experience in the heart of this lovely Amsterdam ! Food is great (limited to one "a lacarte" 3-course menu, organic food) and just cooked at its best, place is a typical Amsterdam ceiling downstairs of a street against a "canal", staff is friendly and helpful. A bit noisy but it depends whether or not large groups are present.... More

Very good, a bit contemporary food with reasonable prices. I would recommend it very much. There are also tables by the river, and the outlook to the canal is simply beautiful.

What a lovely little place - tucked away down some steps and with a great atmosphere, surrounded by old cupboards and rows of bottles and eating under subdued lighting. The food's exceptional, unusual and excellent value: very unusually we both chose the same starter and main, and they were both delicious. We had the strawberries and am asparagus salad to... More

Myself and my boyfriend visited Amsterdam and sought inspiration where to dine. After consulting Tripadvisor, we settled on de Struisvogel. It seemed well-priced, well-located and we liked the look of the menu. Upon arrival, we were greeted friendly and seated promptly at our table. The restaurant is located at Keizersgratch, and like many restaurants along Amsterdam's Grachten, the restaurant is... More

Even thought not in the most commercial spot, the place has a rather touristic approach to the dishes and service. A bit distant despite a friendly space. Mixed feelings. Price - performance it's okayish.
