Great terrace at the Beukenplein Amsterdam east ( open also at winter). Friendly service. Dogs welcome (big +). Tasty food. Near metro.

Amsterdam East is less known than South but it has the same trendy bars and restaurants. Only difference is that you have less tourists and prices are lower. Ribs are fantastic and they have a wide choice if cocktails and beers. Recommended for all staying...near Amstelstation.More

And I’ve had a lot of ribs! Place had a great atmosphere and great food! Best ribs I’ve ever had. Meat just fell off the bone! Would highly recommend.

Stopped here for a beer and something to eat after checking in to Hotel Arena just down the road a bit. Was 15:45, during that odd time between lunch and dinner, but thete was a good crowd at the outdoor seating because the weather was...so nice. The beer selection was good. The burger was tasty, with cheese, bacon, pickle... but I sent back the first one because it was raw in the middle. The fries were mostly overcooked, too crunchy, but I probably shouldn't have eaten them anyway. Great neighborhood hangout, inside seating looked nice too, with a small bar area. Other menu items looked ok, other tables ordered what looked like nachos, but since the menu was only on dutch I have no idea what they were called. Only downside was the smokers around me while I was eating. I guess I am now spoiled since in the US there is no smoking allowed in restaurants anymore.More

This place was recommended to us by the B&B we were staying at. Very nice service. We enjoyed food we had never tried before and shared the mussels. YUM!

Maxwell is a local bar-restaurant where the food is acceptable good. They obviously have a good restaurant preparation and you should expect pub food. the prices are slightly high but quality is good. If you are in need of a beer with some (decent) food...this is a good place. They have a large terrace (unfortunately with environmental unfriendly heaters) on which it is very good on a summersday.More

We actually visited this place 3 times over the weekend, it was a short 5 min walk from our hotel (Arena). A great selection of beer and relaxed atmosphere. Great amount of seating outside which was definitely utilized in the hot weather over the weekend,...there is a covered area if you don't want to be directly in the sun. Table service and the staff were friendly and quick. The food was great, steak delicious and the nachos were tasty. Will definitely be coming back again and recommending.More

Excellent menu selection and every meal I had was amazing. Good service, lots of beer variety as well. Seems popular with the locals on weekends.

I very much enjoyed each of our 3 visits to Cafe Maxwell (over 4 days in Amsterdam). Dinner was tasty (I had the mussels) and our breakfasts were excellent, both times. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed like, well, a cafe.

Slow and over priced, nice place but becoming to hipster. the food is good but overpriced for what you get. a small piece of Carrot cake (really Small) they charge 5 euro. also had to ask for it after i ordered it.
