On the way home after walking around at the museum square, we stopped at this restaurant before we got on the tram. Took away some foods with us. It tasted oke, not really special.

Stopped in after late flight and the food was so so. Portion size was good but food was underwhelming. Service very slow considering a lack of customers inside albeit they were nice the few and far times they would come around

Nieuw Peking demonstrates that they specialize well in various Chinese specialties including Cantonese, Szuchuan, and other styles extremely well and freshly prepared. Their wonton filled with shrimp soup is so good that we can back a couple days later to enjoy it again. By their name, you have to guess that Peking Duck and varieties thereof are specialties of the... More

We were staying in a hotel in the Museum Quarter and wanted to eat near to the hotel for a change. Found this restaurant on trip advisor and pleased we did. The menu is quite big and it took us a while to make our selection and then the waitress told us we had ordered too much. We listened and... More

Absolutely fantastic service. The best we had in Amsterdam. The food was quite good. Lots of interesting choices. I would definitely eat here again.

Mediocre food. I had the bami and my husband had spicy chicken. We ve had better. Both were bland. The starters were better.

Wife and I stopped in for an early dinner and this place was great. The service was outstanding and food was great. I can't remember what we ordered but it was good and the tables around us had some amazing food as well.

We stumbled on this restaurant when we were wandering the streets deciding where to eat. Not far from our hotel, and we thought we'd take a chance. The food was very good and the wait staff was good. Prices were reasonable, for 4 entrees, 2 beers, and 3 desserts the bill was 101 euro.

After placing my order I asked for regular tap water. For logical and ecological reasons I avoid bottled water in countries where I can. This has worked all over Amsterdam except the "friendly" lady told me they don't serve regular water! She got us all ultra mini bottles and charged us 3 Euros a piece! Food was average at best.... Have been there a couple of times and got only positive impressions. Fast and polite staff, tasty food, good music. Prices and design remind you that you are in a restaurant, although not in very expensive one. A cute thing: they have an old computer which runs some text-mode system in Chinese. Check it out!

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
