Very far from Slow Food but the preparation time of a dead simple bami (noodle) dish was in excess of 45 minutes. According to the (older) server, "We have no 'ready to serve' bami." Ehh?

Meat dishes in cold congealed sauce. Soup inedible. Salad in vinegary water. Service extremely slow. Dreadful. Went as a celebration and felt ripped off.

And with traditional I mean that the interior is also a bit outdated and the waiter is adequate but not talkative. It takes a while for the food to come - but it was good food. Do not go here if you are looking for a romantic spot to dine with your new love, go for the food.

Before going to a concert, we dropped by here, no reservation made. The ambience is authentic for Indonesian restaurants, a bit out-dated for us. But the food was absolutely delicious, and authentic Indonesian and that is what matters to us! It is tasteful, decent portions and well-served. Prices are reasonable, service pleasant enough to come again. Pay cash, and don't... More

Remarkably, the only place in Amsterdam where we used a card subsequently used in a massive fraud of our credit card was here...the sketchy waitresses's even sketchier pal sitting at the credit card machine will help facilitate...too bad the overpriced mediocre meal wasn't close to being worth the hours on the phone with Visa sorting out the 50 false charges... We loved the tasting dishes and the service was good and friendly. The decor was a bit shabby, butdoesn't alwayss mean the food will be. I... More

We were staying in the neighbourhood, and thought we would give Djanoko a try. We both ordered rijstafel and beer. The food was not horrible, but it was not special either. Service was OK, but little things bothered us. We asked for water and were told that they do not serve tap water. You must pay for a bottle. There... More

Almost passed this place by and what a mistake that would have been! It doesn't look terribly appealing from outside and even the internal decor is a little low brow but certainly is kept clean and cared for with pride, the cleaning between guests was much more than a simple wipe down with an old cloth that you see at... We stopped in for dinner and the place was just a few tourists. We had the special of the day for 8.50 euros and it was good, spicy, but good. The spring rolls were also good.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
