Very popular place with the younger crowd with very much an English pub feel (think lamb & Guinness stew). Opposite the Central Station and next to St Nicholas Church, this place is hard to miss. Pretty keen prices too which no doubt keeps the punters happy. Food looked good though we did not try it this time around.

Arrived 30 minutes late than we reserved with a group (just for drinks, no food). Almost had to beg to have the group come in and have some beers.

Visited this place with friends for lunch while strolling through the city. The place was rather empty when we arrived. There was just a lady behind the bar singing to herself and just chilling not paying attention to serving customers. Eventually, between her singing show, she noticed there are people waiting to be served. She popped to us with no gratitude... More

Myself and a friend of mine picked this place for our last meal in Amsterdam before departing home. From the very outset bartender/waitress was super obnoxious and rude. We had to find the menus ourselves cause she pretended not to see us. When she finally came to take our order we already noticed her attitude but didn't want this to... More

A busy little bar/restaurant with great food. The cottage pie is definitely worth a try. Good, quick service for friendly prices.

Bustling bar with extensive choice of drinks and food. Great atmosphere in this place opposite Centraal Station. Walls decorated with plaques from various ships and lots of veneered wood around. Some of our number had food which was home-cooked (or at least looked that way) and no one complained at all. In fact, most did say that they would come... More

Waitress was lovely! Menu was vast and not too expensive. There's a smoking lounge downstairs if you're into that. Food was nice! Batavia wedges are a must try! So is the Philly steak sandwich!! Yum! Very enjoyable.

Our meal was out of this world, and the service was brilliant A little cafe, easy to miss, but well worth a visit. By far the best meal that I have had since leaving Australia 2 weeks ago. Great service as well!

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
