We went here because it was rated one of the top 5 pancake restaurants in Amsterdam. It's a nice little place, but the food was horrible. So bad neither of us could finish ours. First of all, the pancakes we got smelled like dried fish...More

Wow what a great restaurant! Just delicious! Shared a steak one and a mushroom one. It's a small place with an exposed kitchen where you can watch the chef prepare the pancakes.

If you want to try something different, definitely check out the Japanese Pancake House. The service was great and the food was delicious. Pancakes (Okonomiyaki) made out of a thin crepe type batter and cabbage mixture or made on the griddle and piled high with...More

I'd wanted to go here the last time I was in Amsterdam, about two years ago, but when I arrived it was packed and they were booked out for the night. Last week I decided to try again and got there pretty late to find...More

We stumbled across this little gem on our first evening in Amsterdam. After trying okonomiyaki in Hiroshima several years ago I had been eager to sample the dish again. JPW did not disappoint. In fact the okonomiyaki here was even tastier than the one in...More

I have to clarify that is not an incredibly original savoury place. It's a great place to have lunch and get a different mix of ingredients than a broodje or poached eggs. The service was truly nice! Seat in the kitchen bar in order to...More

The first time we went, we were told upfront that the kitchen is backed up and would be a more than an hour's wait. We went back a second time and this time got a table. They make the okonomiyakis to order, which is why...More

I had dreamt of this place a thousand times at least... and I found it in Amsterdam during a one-night getaway with my mom. Two years ago I traveled to Japan by myself and I became obsessed with their food (sushi is not the only...More

One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and
some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two
of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll

streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and
quality galleries. Historically a haven for the
working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is
better known as an enclave for artists and designers.

Description
Japanese Pancakes, or Okonomiyaki, are savoury pancakes with a variety of fresh toppings ranging from sweet corn, beef strips to king prawn. The three types of Okonomiyaki we serve are specialties of the regions Osaka, Hiroshima and Kobe. The word Okonomiyaki means 'cook as you like' which also explains the accommodating nature of these pancakes: just choose your favourite toppings and indulge yourself in your personalised pancake, Japanese-style. All our Okonomiyakis are freshly prepared in our open kitchen, following the traditional cooking method, the average time required for a pancake is approximately 30 minutes. while waiting, you are most welcome to watch your okonomiyaki being cooked in our open kitchen, just like in Osaka, Hiroshima and Kobe. Please note: our Restaurant is tiny. To avoid disapointments, we strongly advise you to book your table in advance.
