Kantjil is a place which I visited tons of times for quality and atmosphere. For some reason I had not been for some time. This time it was to catch-up with a friend I had not seen in a long time. We ordered two ‘meat’...rijsttafels and added extra dishes. What was scary is that it was brought out faster than McDonald’s would be able to serve a cheeseburger. Literally everything was tasteless. The babi pangang was solid as a brick. It was terrible. If you are looking for a real Indonesian restaurant, please check other places. Sad but true.More

We ordered the rice table as well as a few addition dishes. All were quite tasty but not outstanding. Service was adequate but not notable in any way.

Do NOT go there! I repeat, do not go unless you are white. We entered the restaurant after a white family this evening. Neither family got reservations. They got seated right away (5pm restaurant is empty). When the host talked my partner, he told us...to wait 1.5 hr? You kidding me? What is it? 1950s? Do not go there, their staffs are not nice nor friendly!!! I can careless how their food taste, that’s BS!More

Visited on a recommendation but sadly it did not live up to expectations. Food was luke warm on cold plates which was remedied but service was also poor. We had to ask to order drinks and the waiter didn’t come back to take desert order....Front of house was helpful and maybe we were just unlucky as it seemed a popular restaurant but we left disappointed.More

I'd never tried Indonesian food before, but I'm glad I did now here. The service was excellent, and the food was delicious.

The food was nearly tasteless, essential herbs and spices that belong in these dishes were notably absent. For example, there was no ginger or garlic to be found in the babi kecap. Some of the dishes were almost cold when they were served like the...sambal goreng telor and the pepesan ikan. If you want to taste Indonesian food, this is not the place unfortunately as the restaurant is beautiful.-More

Amazing food, really well cooked and well presented. Don't forget to book in advance to make sure you get a table. Menu was really easy, staff were incredibly helpful and the meal and experience were great. Would thoroughly recommend the restaurant.

Bland average food. Mushy vegetables- tons of slimy cabbage and carrots. A tourist restaurant of low quality.

Loved trying out the rice table with new friends at this restaurant, which looks quite elegant but was happy to seat us despite me drinking beers on a boat just half an hour before. Everything was really tasty and I loved the service and experience.

We came here as a group after work and had reservations outside which was perfect on a nice night. We ordered a full spread for both tables of rice and meat and everything came at once as is the style. I thought all the dishes...were great, the pork satay was one of my favorites. I will say they have one of the best gin and tonic craft cocktails I've had in a while and it was popular with everyone once they saw mine - I loved the chili kick. We had a great time and the waiters were on top of things. I would definitely come back.More

It was wonderful to return on a warm summer evening to a place I’ve known for 20 years. The food is still tasty. Really enjoyed the meat and fish Rijstafel. The service was good and we had a nice chat with neighbours Elena joining table....What heartily recommend a visit.More

Tough to find Indonesian food where we are from (thought a major capital city), so it was on my to-do list for Amsterdam. We enjoyed Rames, Randang, etc. My friend discovered this cuisine and liked it so much that a/ he wanted to return on...day 2, b/ he is now convinced we shall go to Bali :-) . So thank you Kantjil !!! I will give it a 4/5 to reflect on the food (I still like better what I had in Indonesia), the very amiable staff, the ambiance, the price/quality ratio.
