Very disappointing and unfriendly. I went for dinner and ordered one Massamankai (it was not as taart as before, hard chicken), and a Keng Klou Waan Luom so spicy that I could not eat it. Also, it was full of paprika which was not mentioned...in the description. The lady waitress was very rude and made me pay the dish even of it was almost not touched. I will never go back!More

We did not have reservations for Bird Thai Restaurant in Amsterdam. We just happened to wander in after we visited the Jewish Museum and they were able to seat us right away despite that it was somewhat busy around 6:30p.m. There is a great selection...of different Thai food and they were all good. I had the Chicken Filet Pad Thai and it was a rather big order. There are made to order drinks are also nice. The environment inside the Bird Thai Restaurant is very authentic with many Thai art objects, pictures, and illustrations that give the feeling you are dining in Asia. It is located right in Amsterdam's Chinatown main st-- Zeedijk St. -- middle of the block. I believe there are two entrances to enter. Well worth a nice dinner in Amsterdam's Chinatown.More

Again, absolutely faultless. We visit here every time we go to Amsterdam as the food is just amazing and the service is great. I'll continue going here as it's perfect and good value too.

I mean the title said it all. Food was very poor! Never tasted any Thai food like it. Tom Yum soup was like water with raw mushroom. Staff was good and polite but the boss is absolutely awful. He did not welcomed us at all.

Overrated restaurant in Amsterdam. Waited 15 minutes to get seated. No a problem. Ordered the Bangkok appetizer plate. Everything was average except for the chicken satay skewers that were juicy and delicious. The picture of the spring rolls on the menu is showing lots of...stuffing in the rolls.. the spring rolls we had in our plate were so small that all you tasted was the fried rice dough. The breaded shrimp were very small as well and you could barely taste the shrimp. That plate cost 22€ for the two of us and wasn’t worth the price. The red curry chicken was generous in chicken and the sauce tasted good, so did the red curry shrimp, although the fruits in the sauce made it disappointing to my friend. Overall, quite a disappointing dinner. We won’t go again. They should either change the pictures of the menu to reflect the reality or bring the food back to what it’s supposed to be.More

We love this restaurant and visit every time we’re in town. We ate here twice this time - first time was excellent, delicious, tasty and plentiful. On our second visit one of our main dishes was too far too salty (pork in oyster sauce), resulting...in us not finishing our meals! Definitely out of character with our usual experiences and we will be back. Staff are efficient and friendly.More

Hateful and I mean a hateful waitress. We had 2 additional people coming to dine with us (total of 6 people) and they were running late. Waitress said we had 10 minutes to wait on them. After 10 minutes we got a text that the...2 other people were downstairs but the waitress started yelling that our time was up and we had to go to a table for 4. She made a scene and embarrassed herself. I will NEVER go back to this place.More

Centrally located Thai. Gets very very busy at night and you may have to queue but even then, the wait is not too long (expect 10-15 minutes maximum during busy times). I found the staff to be friendly, the menu is quite extensive and service...is quite rapid. Overall a decent experience but I wouldn't rate it as the best Thai I have ever had. There is a very small Thai kitchen across the street from Bird Thai Restaurant (might even be the same owner from what I was told) and I liked the flavours a bit better in the other restaurant (but it only offers seating for 10 people or so). So not the best Thai in my opinion but certainly not the worst either, which is why I'm giving it 3 stars.More

I have dined at this restaurant several times in the past as I visit Amsterdam often. I have always been impressed with their food offerings. Very authentic and tasty. The reason for the low score is their policy of not permitting patrons to pay individually...if they are sharing a table with other. There are signs posted prominently throughout stating “No split checks”. This is an important issue because THE BIRD caters to many airline crews. When they dine together they are used to each paying their own way by letting the waiter swipe each individual credit card. This is done at almost all restaurants in Europe and by this one not allowing this arrangement I feel they are not recognizing the needs of their clientele. A group that spends a great deal of money in their establishment. I don’t see why this is not permitted here. I love Thai food and I like spice but if it is too hot I simply can’t enjoy it. At my last visit I and my colleague asked that our plates be prepared “not so spicy”. When I asked for mine to be prepared this way as my colleague had before me, the waitress taking out order said “ if you say not so spicy one more time I’ll be sure to make it extra spicy for you” and walked away. And when we got our food it was almost too spicy to finish. Hmmmmm! A very snarky and disrespectful comment to someone who is spending a good amount of money to enjoy good dining and good hospitality. I find their payment policy and the rude comment from their staff to be very tone deaf to the needs of their patrons and while I find their food enjoyable, there are too many food options in Amsterdam to be inconvenienced and disrespected at this restaurant. I think I will skip this one in the future at least until they change their payment policy.More

We had a great experience here. We did not have a reservation and showed up around 7 pm. There was a 15 minute wait for a table and it was week worth the wait. The pad thai and red curry were both delicious and the...service was great, the staff was very friendly. The portion sizes were also very big so you definitely get you moneys worth for the food!More

The portion looked pretty small, but once I started eating, it was enough haha. I ordered the Chiangmai menu and Thai milk tea. Frankly, I was quite disappointed with the milk tea. I would consider it more of a chai tea rather than Thai milk...tea. However, the Tom Yum Koeng tasted really good and it wasn't too spicy at all. The paneang nua was a 7 out of 10 - the curry tasted perfect, but the beef was a bit too hard to chew. The saté chicken was worse than expected, as the outside layer was also too hard. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant as there are loads of other options in Amsterdam.More
