We received afternoon tea in Bridges restaurant as the library at Le Grand hotel where it is normally served was full. We were very grateful to be accommodated as we turned up as guests of the hotel without booking - and what a fantastic afternoon tea it was! Four different teas were served, to complement each course. The sandwiches were... More

We went for dinner to Bridges with really high expectations. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and the service was good but a bit slow. We also enjoyed the dinner but I have to say that I expected something more. We chose the 6 course menu. The amouse-gouse were good, and the fish dishes were really tasty. But the ones... More

The three course lunch menu is highly recommended. A small clam as amuse gueule, then backed oyster and Scallops, hailibut as main course with small bits of vegetables and a spectacularly presented desert (photo). Very friendly staff, excellent atmosphere and a nice view. This restaurant is an excellent choice. No dress code for lunch.

The food was fresh and well prepared. The servers were efficient, friendly, but not intrusive. We had a wonderful dining experience.

Came here for a new years day evening meal. First thing that greeted us was the beautiful restaurant. Very contemporary and laid back in a classy way. The food was fantastic, highly deserving of the Michelin star. Best dish was the tuna tartare with sesame seed crust. The little entrees and bread were lovely too. Great service as well. After... We very much enjoyed a wonderful dinner with great wines. Mainly fish with great tastes and creative cooking, but without overdoing it. Friendly and relaxed service with a sense of humor. The restaurant gives a good feeling and a really nice place where you can go for a special occasion, but also for a nice dinner. Highly recommended

My dining companion and I were disappointed by this place. I would highly recommend the tasting menu at Visaandeschelde (where I dined the night before) over the tasting menu at Bridges. (I have no affiliation with either restaurant.) As numerous others have written, the tasting menu service can be very slow. We arrived at 9, but it still took nearly... More

Buffet breakfast is the best in Bridges, which is a Michelin restaurant in Amsterdam. Our kids love the attention their staff gave, specially when Dorota prepared them their warm chocolate drinks with girly decorations. She even gave our girls gifts in our last day. Truly heartwarming! By the way, their poached eggs are highly recommendable to start the day. Thanks... More

Before visiting Amsterdam we looked for the nicest restaurant we could find and we thought this was it. It was a very nice evening, far from cheap, but the food was very good. Personally, having dined in many top quality restaurants I didn't think that the staff delivered the service you would expect of a high-end establishment. For the main... More

Well, we're definitely had a delicious dinner, although had few dissatisfactions. Major one. I was told that restaurant will provide birthday related dessert, by my request. So I was relying on that promise and didn't look up for some bakeries etc. Only once birthday came up, when waitress said "Happy Birthday, would you like to order champagne for that occasion?".... Description
Bridges Inspired by Ron Blaauw Bridges seafood restaurant is located at the front of Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam, the location and the building are special. Bridges restaurant is all about fish! The best 'fins' possible, caught at the best moment. Always in season, never out of it. We offer a large selection of mainly Dutch seafood, whether it is in the restaurant, the Bar or the Cocktail Bar. Local, organic vegetables complement the seafood; a perfect match of the sea meeting the land, with a French twist. The Wine Room is stocked with 'great whites'; fish just needs good 'vins'.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
