good food, lot of different plates. i'm not expert is it all original or not, but mostly it is well prepared. dozens of small plates... omelet, curry, ribs, sweet chicken wings...? all together? but food was good, and service was almost perfect, until older Indonesian waiter didn't say that he doesn't know what is in desert, because he doesn't eat... Very good meal on a cold evening. Chose to go to the pub section and was happy to see all the people enjoying their meals, from families to single women, all seemed comfortable.

I don't understand any of the positive reviews for this place? We had the lunch time specials. The vegetarian version was like super noodles with whatever was left in the fridge that day thrown on top. The meat version was marginally better, but still only what you would eat if it was last option on earth and you'd had 10... More

Make sure that you are HUNGRY if you choose the full table. I did not have a reservation for a table so I ate at the bar. The service was excellent and friendly. About 15 small dishes and the rice bowl made up the Rijsttafel and everything was delicious. If you want to have a table I suggest making reservations

Having spent many years in the Philippines, I wanted to try Indonesian food to compare. I was surprised at the differences, but upon reflection, realize that geographical proximity is no guarantee of similarity. We originally tried to get seated for dinner, but found the place booked up on Friday night. We crossed our fingers and gave it another try on... More

Although I have never tried Indonesian cousin before, however going to Sama Sebo has given me the desire to retry this type of food. We tried the Rijstaffel which is a feast consisting of several smaller dishes. The service was fantastic and we got the waiter to set up a selection based on his experience. The food came on the... We tried to get in the previous night and were turned away. The place was packed. So we went back and managed to get a table the second time. We had never eated Indonesian food, so the menu was a complete mystery. We played it safe with a combination platter and it was amazing how many different dishes and tastes... More

The staff were absolutely lovely, so attentive and friendly I would give them a 5/5 they were brilliant however the food wasn't anything special. Loved the flavoured rice and the beef but wasn't blown away by all of the dishes. The chicken satay was good but a little rich and I loved that there were a couple of fruity dishes.... More

We went there a small group of 5. We made an advance reservation, which I think is necessary. The interior is not very fancy or stylish - but the Food was very good and the waiters also friendly. You will not og wrong by choosing this place for a traditional Rijsttaffel !

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
