Full disclosure, my wife and I love us some good steaks. As the son in law of a cattle rancher, good beef is a staple of our diet. We were intrigued by the idea of a high end Dutch steak house and thought we would...give it a shot. Walking through the door the ambiance seemed on par with what we expected. Hoity toity but with enough of a kitschy rustic vibe to pay homage to purist beef lovers. Unfortunately, this dog don’t hunt. I left disappointed. We ordered a pair of rib eyes, a classic favorite. When the meal arrived on a cool wood platter with a tiny salad, I thought “this is fancy I’m glad I wore my clean shirt.” Sadly, the Dutch bred beef lacked flavor. Perhaps some seasoning would have helped. To his credit the chef did the best he could with what he had to work with. I was prepared exactly like I requested. Picture perfect medium. It would have been better however, if the grizzled mess didn’t tase like boiled meat. It was a mess that was hard to cut and even harder to chew. The mashed potato side (that we had to order separately) had an aftertaste that was reminiscent of a band aid that had been marinated in a swimming pool all summer. Yuck. Guys, hard pass on this place. In keeping with the Uptown Meat House theme of setting the bar low, if you’re ever in the states, try the Sizzler. It’s like the Walmart of steak houses but without the crappy service and steak that doesn’t assault the palate like this disaster. Anything is better than this place.More

Came for lunch. Food was OK, but I expected more. It is a bit pricey for what you get. The meny said the meat came with a peppersauce and a salad. The sauce was very thin and the salad was nothing more than some green...leaves that looked like garnish.More

We visited based on good reviews and location. It was quiet and expected great service and wonderful food. Ordered Tenderloin steak at €32 each to come medium rare. Both came cold in the centre and raw. These would be best described as “blue” and when...mentioning it to waitress her suggestion was to “take back to kitchen to reheat”. She did offer a free dessert which was a nice gesture but if they can’t get the steak right … We sent back over half the steaks as they were raw. There was a cursory 10% taken off the bill. The wine was nice but the meal was not upto the sign of “how meat should be done” I think it was late on Sunday night (Easter Sunday) and the meat was cooked straight from fridge as it definitely hadn’t rested being cold in the middle. Understandable but not really acceptable for a €120 meal for 2.More

Cosy ambiance. Very good meat served with fries or vegetables and sauce. The plate is well filled. Good wines are also proposed.

What a disappointment!. I will not be coming back and highly advise anyone looking for a decent steak restaurant to look elsewhere. I ordered the rib eye steak rare to medium rare and it arrived well done. It was tough, chewy and tasteless.. a poor...cut of meat for the price. The peppercorn sauce was unrecognisable and the chips were overly salted. I could have cooked a better steak at home. When we mentioned to the waiter that we were disappointed with the quality, he told us he could have brought us another one. Why would I want 2 of the same poor quality cuts of steak? Wine was good though, needed it!!More

Very poor quality, meat was dry and tasteless; also very expensive considering what we ate. Atmosphere was average. Not recommended

While their specialty is fine steaks, other options were delicious. I had steak the previous night, so I got the chicken sandwich and a side of fries. It was a hearty lunch with plenty of greens in the sandwich to give a satisfying crunch. I'm...glad I got the fries because the crisps were not great. An Aperol Spritz was perfect for the hottest day of the week. Unfortunately there is no outdoor seating, which is too bad because the Vondelpark is just a few steps away. The decor inside the restaurant was very nice though. Service was attentive but I had to send the bill back twice because we were charged for some drinks we didn't get.More

Found this place one block from our hotel. We sat outside in the sun. We shared a tomahawk steak and sides. 3.5 hours later, 3 bottles of red wine and an amazing cookie dessert we shut the place down

Apparently the restaurant serves halal meat, no mentions or anything about it on the menu. If I had known I definitely wouldn’t have eaten here.

Late lunch. Waited to be seated as sign indicated. Young waiter spotted mme but seemmed hesitant to approach. After a mminute his bar colleague camme over. I was offered a seat wherever I wished. There were only a couple of other tables occupied. I chose...to sit right by sidewalk entry - big open window and watch the rainy street action. Heh - busy with traffic & a bit noisy. Nice to watch the passer-byers. Dark & Stormy drink was refreshing. I could have went for a second but would fill mme. I teally wanted a burger or steak but too close to dinner for mme. I had the hummus sandwich which was fantastic - eggplant, pomegranate, and rucolla -grilled bread. Side of fries -thick and crispy. Was checked on by both waiter and bartender. Price for lunch was good for what was served. Next visit I will try sommething mmeaty. On the way to WC downstairs you pass the open kitchen. Greeted friendly by all the cooks😆 isabelydancer00More

I had been looking forward to trying this place for awhile and I was tragically disappointed. The bathroom firstly was shocking, I won’t go into details but it was bad. The service was good but they were definitely inexperienced and tried their best. Half the...restaurant was cordoned off because of a lack of staff. Now the food. I ordered a medium rare rib eye. It was cooked more to medium well and was pretty bland. The mash potatoes were tasteless and uninspiring. The pepper sauce was watery and kinda weird and gross. The French fries were covered in table salt and just a disgrace to the french fries of the world. The wine list was decent and only the bottle of wine we ordered was the nights saving grace.More

While the food quality was commendable, there were several disappointing aspects that hindered the overall experience. The host failed to write down our preferred meat cooking preferences, resulting in incorrectly prepared dishes. Furthermore, the restaurant's warm temperature made it quite uncomfortable throughout the meal. The...rudeness exhibited by the waiters was also disappointing. Their unprofessional behavior, such as pointing instead of communicating verbally and expecting guests to hand over plates and cutlery, left a lot to be desired. Their inexperience was evident in their overall service. Moreover, the timing of the main course was inconsistent, as each table guest received their dish at different intervals. This was compounded by the fact that the main course arrived only minutes after the starters, disrupting the flow of the meal. Additionally, the incorrect cooking on the meat and the cold sauce further added to the subpar experience. To make matters worse, one of the waiters was observed eating leftover food from a plate while cleaning an empty table, which was highly unprofessional and unhygienic. On a positive note, the restaurant's saving grace was the commendable quality of the food. Despite the numerous service-related issues, the dishes themselves were enjoyable.More

Delicious flavoursome steak, one of the best I've eaten, from Holstein cows with 4% butter fat giving the excellent flavour. The young manager ensured that not only was your meal excellent, but that the whole experience was to his own high standards. He could not...be faulted. An excellent meal.More
