The sandwich here was tasty and my colleagues enjoyed their rice bowls, but a bit on the expensive side.

We found this restaurant close to our air BnB. The server was very attentive to an allergy problem and suggested a change in a meal choice. The gado gado salad and chicken satays were amazing.

This place is always good for a weekend afternoon. Either lunch or just a drink, both are fine. The staff makes you feel right at home and the music is always pleasant. I had the banana pancakes, but they make a nice pulled duck sandwich...as well.More

They have incredibly tasty food for evey time of day, their coffee is suberb and they make a mean cocktail...or serve you a cold beer. Could be a nice little place. Solid menu. Chances of getting your order correct slim to none... You’d think it wasn’t hard to write down an order. But this place can’t manage it. Sometime during the “hearing customer order” and the electrical signal required reaching...the hand there’s a block. Or it could be the challenge of giving the chef the piece of paper....lots of variables there. Plenty of chance of a balls up. I’d recommend the following steps when eating here to avoid them ducking your order and giving your food to someone else: 1) usual visual and audio cues. I suggest saying and pointing. The more volume you use, the better chance the chef has of hearing you. Thus avoiding the waitress, paper, order loop and probable catastrophe. 2) keep it simple. One item orders such as ‘a coffee’ have a decent chance of arriving and you might even be impressed with the quality (i was). Still, the wait is likely to be eons so I’d recommend popping into order your post dinner coffee at breakfast time. When it does turn up though it’s good. So if you’ve retired and have nothing else to do til next Tuesday it’s worth the wait.More

We visited here on a weekday evening and it was quite busy but we got served in good time. We ordered a dirty duck burger, pad Thai and the kids shared something that comprised of shredded beef and sweet potato fries. The food was good,...the atmosphere was good and the service was good. A tasty burger with lots of flavour and spice. Delicious sweet potato fries with a spicy dip and well dressed salad. Presented nicely to add to a ‘hip’ setting. A good recommendation if you are passing through the ‘oost’ of Amsterdam. Good options of beverages...and coffees.More

As many places now in Oost, Basquiat offers a cool location and it's very well refined when it comes to interiors and design. When it comes down to the menu and its prices, it's another pretty face with little substance. Breakfast is overpriced.

Perfect place to have dinner with friends looking for something different. Duck is nice in any of the dishes, just the roti could have more meat inside. The atmosphere there is nice specially with young people. The service is a bit slow, that is maybe...the only point to improve.More
