Where does the number ’23’ in the name of De Harmonie 23 stand for? It’s located at the Westersingel number 95 in the city Rotterdam, so it’s not about the house number. It’s all about the 23 dishes of the renown tasting menu of this...restaurant. De Harmonie 23 has been renovated in the year 2017, through which it evaluated from a classical place to a hip and modern restaurant. A velvet green couch, small trees in the middle of the room, round mirrors hanging on the wall and lounge music playing: this is a spot you can see yourself spending hours with family and friends, but also with business partners. We really love the cosy living room vibe going on around here, which is strengthened by the warm welcome by maître Suet-Wan. We start our dinner with the signature cocktail: Chef’s Rum. A modern version of the Baco we all know. Yes, we may taste the first bites: a tiny ice cream cone with crab and tomato sorbet, a basket with mini bapao’s of pulled pork and a matze cracker with tuna salad that’s making its way to our table on an interesting rock. These appetizers perfectly do what they have to do: making us véry curious and excited about the rest of our dinner! Oh, and – not unimportant – the presentation is fantastic. The first wine is a surprising one to start with, as it’s a red wine from Valpolicella in Italy. It turns out to be quite light and a beautiful match with our first course of vegetarian “steak” tartare made of beetroot, potato and piccalilli ice cream. After this impressive starter dish, our gastronomical journey moves forward with lots of original highlights. Dishes that really stood out to us were the amazing creamy bisque with Argentine gamba, tomato, courgette and basilicum emulsion and the dish of Parmesan cheese and mushrooms. Such intense flavors but still so perfectly balanced. Wow, these dishes form a reason to visit this place all by its own. Throughout the entire menu, the vision of chef Marco Somer comes out. He grew up surrounded by nature and you can tell he truly respects all elements of nature. This can be noticed in the way his creations allow all ingredients get their chance to shine. This chef handles food in a creative and philosophical way and tries to outperform his talent for himself and his guests. From the first bite to the last friandise and all beautiful dishes in-between, the team of De Harmonie 23 took the greatest care of us. They will make sure you don’t have to ask for anything more and just get pampered for a while. It’s a place you would like to stay and come back as soon as possible. The ambiance is warm and cosy, the service is quick and the dishes surprisingly fulfilling.More

We've held our wedding lunch at De Harmonie. It was an amazing experience. Everything was as it should be, great food and great service. They perfectly managed to take in account the speeches and wishes from our guests. Many thanks.

Limited but good wine list. 5 little plates but with very bold flavors. Beautifully presented, friendly service. Like the fish courses the best. More of a business diner place than being a romantic spot. Overall very very good.

We went for the 23-course menu which was a very nice experience. Good food with a few experimental touches, services was great with a good explanation and good recommendations. If your a bit on a budget you could consider to leave out the wine-pairing although...It must be said that there were some nice and surprising combinations included which worked very well.More

Set in beautiful elegant décor with friendly service. We started with cocktails at the bar, my non-alcoholic cocktail was beautiful. We selected the five-course menu and had no clue what to expect – all we were asked was what we do not eat. Novelle cuisine...style with small dishes with intense flavours, it was surprising how stuffed we were at the end. The food was interesting and it was presented in a unique way. An interesting culinary experience!More

Refurbished, old stalwart. Had the 4 course menu. Balanced, nouvelle (if we can still use that.) good wine pairing. Somewhat overbearing staff. Friendly sophisticated place, good location. Enjoy.

'Harmonie' wasn't our original target for the Friday evening but others were fully booked. But we weren't disappointed, on the contrary ! Nice table seating, immediately filled with three different amuses, one even better than the other. Two of u selected the 4-course surprise menue,...the third opted for a-la-carte. All dishes were fantastic, indeed surprising combinations of tastes and flavours. But the recommendations for the wines were the highlight : a rose from the Bourgogne, not as dry as the usual Provence but so tastful, so refined and such a good match with the appetizers. Bravo Harmonie, we'll come back for more surprises.More

Four of us went here for dinner after a business meeting and did enjoy it very much.. This restaurant has impeccable service and beautiful food. It is intimate with a nice garden. A bit on the pricier side but if you are looking for something...special, look no further!More

Fantastic 5 course taster menu - all agreed one of the best taster dinners we've had. A couple of unusual wines in the accompanying wine selection but worked well with the food apart from the particularly strong / pungent wine served with the cheese course....Pretty reasonable value compared to similar style, high end restaurants in the UK.More

This was one of the most unusual restaurants that I have ever visited anywhere in the world. It was like walking into someone’s house with a small bar and a large dining room with tables separately. Simple really. The menu is very simple with 4...types of starters and 4 types of main course but no details about any of the dishes. They are a surprise when served. The waiter does provide more details upon serving the food. Every course was followed by hors d’oeuvres - and all of them uniquely prepared and served. The common theme in all the dishes that I found was ‘hot and cold’ or ‘sweet and savoury’. Definitely worth going and trying it for special occasions or when you need to impress someone.More

Went here for the fourth time in about as many years with my wife and again we were far from disappointed. Both of us selected the 5 course chef's surprise menu and each of them, along also with the amuses in between, was of immaculate...quality. We had fine wines to go along with each of the courses and yes, this increases the bill quite a bit. But the accompanying wine arrangement is on the menu, so you know what you pay for. And again, we were pleasantly surprised with the wines as these were well chosen and enthusiastically explained. The staff in general were very friendly and to us the restaurant operation was performed smoothly, professionally. We will come again and will then try the 23 tasting menu!More

The business model of this place is to sell good food with extremely overpriced wines. Chef-cook Marco knows he cannot make profit over the quality of his dishes, so he charges it over drinks. That’s really very sad. Service and food are excellent though. Creative...but not overdone. Love the atmosphere. Food is priced decently. Wines are perfect with a 1,000% profit margin, yes factor ten. A 50 euro menu comes with 100 euro on drinks. Avoid this place. It’s highway robbery.More
